I'd rather have a long stroke straight 6 in these trucks than a V8. Loads of torque off idle and no opposing angles for the crank to fight.

I know, that is why I would like the ability to turn it on and off. Hopefully OP can do that with the ECT button.

Yes, I am doing this for more power not MPGs. The stock tune has been proven by many to be able to provide good MPGs.

The straight six that came in the FJ40 was a great example of this.

Some want power, some want MPG with smoother throttle and better shift points.

I think that >MPGs is possible if you drive like there is an egg under your right foot with the Tune, but you will need 91 Octane I believe. I am sure they will still have the truck detune if it starts to sense detonations, so, I guess you could try lower octane.

Sounds like you want the new shift controller or S mode.

i wouldn't mind an economy tune, where I sacrifice power but get 25+ mpgs. As long as I could turn that off if I knew I was headed into the mountains.

That statement was for folks on here I see complaining about it all the time. I actually don't, I rarely find mine hunting gears, when I do I put it in S mode and pick the right gear. I'm more interested in a smoother torque curve and whatever extra power can be extracted.

I have often found that the more powerful the engine the less load it sees to achieve the same results. Less load means it can do the job more effectively.

For you auto transmission guys there is a lot of slack in the converter and on the clutch pack applications. If that slack is tuned out so that the shifts are snappy and don't just kind of mush from gear to gear you will probably see some improvements in mileage.

Tuning Vortec (LS) engines and transmissions you can really bump the fuel mileage up with just transmission adjustments in the tune. I know this first hand. My guess is this one will be the same.

I don't think this tune will be able to make everyone happy, but if this can address the shift concerns, low RPM torque, and shift responsiveness, most should be happy. FWIW, I hope this works out for everyone and doesn't bring unwanted attention to your dealers.

I feel like even if the dealer can't detect it with a scan they might get curious as to why on their test drive after service the thing is moving like a bat out of hell compared to the rest of them

Just don't be that guy that rolls in with an Orange Virus banner on the truck rolling in for service.

My dealer is right off the highway. It would be impossible if they don't because they would be dawdling into a 55mph zone.
