It's obviously the same thing, but takes effect at different RPM ranges and for different purposes.

Atkinson is down lower in the rpm band, like below 2500-3k I think it is. The kick in the ass that you feel higher up is VVTI actuation

I get better than claimed in my manual. The auto I had was 2-3 mpg worse than claimed.

This is Tacoma World dammit, where we tell people that we are helpful, but in reality we are looking to see who asks questions and therefore reveals themselves to be weak!

We pose as being helpful to get people to ask dumb questions so we can then heckle them for not already knowing or using the search function

I’ve been logging the stumble on acceleration, full throttle from a stand still, AT, engine and trans normal operating temperature.

The top line is accelerator position.

The brown jagged line is throttle position command.

The purple jagged line is throttle request command.

They are all over the place until 1000rpm.

Speak for yourself bro! Ive put several hours of work into my Brake Upgrade thread and the write-ups I've done so far and will continue to contribute as I learn more, and that's all for the people. I'm loyal to TW after all that I've been able to learn, how much time I have saved thanks to the write ups and recommendations of other members so I don't mind putting in a little work in return..

At least it's just throttle control and not AFR, no reason to worry and should be an easy fix.

In other news, anyone else have a sudden creep when you come to a standstill and have foot on the brake? The truck tries for a split second to move forward which you can feel in the brake pedal. It doesn't move (as the brake is on) but you can feel it try.

Yes I have had it since the day i bought it! Took it back to dealer twice 1st time they said they couldn't duplicate the problem. 2nd time they told me it was normal. It does seem to be more pronounced with the tune. This might be part of the next update fix.

Good work, sir. I can feel this for sure - though I rarely WOT from a stop living in the city it isn't very apparent most of the time. I know from what Mat has said previously that throttle is intertwined with torque and load maps, so (just a layman guessing...) it seems as though perhaps the choppiness is what the ECU is doing to the throttle to maintain a linear increase in engine load/speed. He's working on this as part of the update as I understand it so hopefully you've sent your logs so he can take a gander before the big 1.03b or 1.04 or whatever the new release will be called.

Warm, slowdown to a stop at a light, sitting there happily with my foot on the brake and there'll be a slight creak as the load on the brakes increases. Isn't like the AC compressor rev rise which it has always done. Only happens on 1.03. It isn't a big deal, just makes me feel like someone has bumped into the back of me lol
