There are trucks with 04B02 and 04B03 with OVTUNE. I think there are 3 ECU revisions for the manual trucks, all with OVTUNE.

That's the beauty of this tune, Mat incorporate all feature and fixes (from Toyota and him self) into all ECU revisions, so we don't have to get on our knees and beg Toyota for a TSB ECU flash. They'll just say "could not reproduce issue, go away". I absolutely hate dealing with my local Toyota dealership.

I mentioned a few pages back people are welcome to update if they want. They will be able to go to tuned version B04 once released.

Problem is this TSB "issue" only exists for certain VINs, even though everyone has calibration B02 or B03.

So some will not even be given the option from Toyota, but they will from our update.

So you have 4.88s and 33s I assume (by looking at your pictures)? I am looking to compare the latest TSB to the outgoing TSB just to see what Toyota has redeemed themselves on. As far as OV tune, I WILL be installing 1.05 when it comes available I just like to have everything on the table and be educated on what each tune is pros and cons...

@OVTune not urgent but I am curious as to why, with Techstream, we couldn't flash our own trucks to the new calibration (assuming it's just a CUW file?) I know you've mentioned the dealer must do this but I'm curious as to why it's impossible for us to do it from TIS?

I used TIS to download the CUW file from the TSB in TIS and updated my truck in the drive way because dealer didn't want to update mine from 04B01 to 04B03, you just need to find and install java 7 update 5 as newer versions will not work.

Do you have to use a specific version of TIS?

TIS is just the website but once you purchase a subscription which is I think 55$ or somewhere around there for two days you have access to the lastest version of Techstream as well so don't worry about that.

yeah, while I can imagine the improvements to the torque converter and shift behavior could be beneficial what I do know / suspect is that the new TSB will re-introduce the trans learning which would mean I'd be driving around in S-4 in town all the time again getting lower MPGs with a sluggish throttle and a slower, heavier feeling truck. no thanks.

with 1.04, the truck will find 5th and even 6th sometimes in the city but oddly when it's at 1k it no longer feels like its a dog lugging around. it downshifts smoothly before it allows itself to lug so I can enjoy the 5th gear 45mph cruise at 1k and if I want to accelerate, a slight press on the throttle and I'm in 4th accelerating or climbing whatever I need to.

I may have the dealer flash me to the new TSB right when 1.05 surfaces (and is confirmed to support the "04" calibration) just so I'll be on the latest "officially"

but the truck drives extremely well as-is. some minor quirks, sure but I never get frustrated when I drive this truck anymore. it goes. I grin when I lay on the throttle every damn time. That ain't happening with any new TSB from Toyota. I'll wait.

@OVTune if we have 1.04 installed now (both ECU and TCU) is there any issue if the dealer updates to the B04 on the TCU? Or would you recommend we flash back to stock ECU and TCU before allowing the dealer to update to the new B04?

You should also end up with an email from Mat with the instructions. Check all your mail folders as I found out mine got dispersed in my gmail between 'updates' and my regular inbox.
