2016 transmission diffference in 2.7l

Ok i tried doing a search but get little bits here and there. Im in the market for a new truck my wife hates that I have a manual 2.7 but i love it. I know the automatic 2.7ls were dogs but did they do anything to the 2016 transmission to help?

Everything were looking at in our price range is a 2.7l but she wants the automatic. Im just leery of how it performs compared to a manual.

I currently own a 2014 access 2.7 4x4 with A/T.... I drove the same in a 2016....what I found was the transmission was constantly shifting at highway speeds, like it couldn't figure out what gear it should be in.....it was constantly shifting......I count my blessings that I have the truck that I have....despite that its poky....

 

I have the same truck 2016 access cab 4x4 2.7l and have none of the issues you are describing .. my truck shifts super smooth and does not constantly change gears at highway speeds

Your transmission is different . You have the AC60 series transmission

He has a 2014 ... he said he test drove a 2016 and that it was constantly shifting at highway speeds and that he was glad he had a 2014 .... so the one he was referring to is the same transmission i have

The only thing I can suggest is clearing the memory for the transmission adaptive learning with a fresh start

 

Well test drove the V6 and my complaint list is high. Poor fuel economy for displacement is up there. The next complaint was one heck of a throttle delay. I could nearly count off 2 seconds before it was actually accelerating. Where as my 05 with the sprint booster is instant.
Haven't driven the 2.7 in a 2016 but the 6 speed auto should help in the drivability area just because the gear ratios are closer together between gears. Only wish they went direct injection on the 2.7 because that would increase the horse power and torque some while making better the fuel economy.

My current daily driver is a 2015 Ram 2500 diesel and I can match the MPG on the highway that use the 3.5 V6 and my engine is 6.7 liters of displacement. My average in city is 16 MPG unloaded as well.
Toyota needs a diesel to become competitive in the MPG area again. I will say it's nearly impossible to beat a Tacoma off road though.
