I think about doing this daily. With the end of year sales, I might just do it.

Did you get the EB or the 5.0?

The local Toyota dealer has 9 used 2016s on the lot.

I may mod my ECT (parts never came in though) or just dump it. I will say the truck is amazing off-road. I simply cannot get it stuck. And it's totally stock.

When I bought my new 2014 it was the 5.0 at the model year end and I got $8000 less than msrp. Won't see that on a Toyota. What killed me was the 13.5 mpg in city commuting. Otherwise it was a great problem free truck. I ended up driving my 2008 Tacoma more than the F150 thus sold the Ford found a 2016 taco then sold my 2008 taco. Then 4 months later my problems started.

I had an 06 taco sr5 4ad with 160k, but I signed it over to my brother who was down on his luck. He reports no issues and I'm with the turd. I don't regret it since he needed a reliable truck. He's a home builder in NW Florida and needs a good truck. I commute in DFW to a job that's not outdoors.

Anyway, an f150 might be a good fit, but they were a lot more than the 16 turd OR I bought. I paid 36k otd for it a year ago and if I could get 30ish I'd jump on it.

It's been a pathetic journey and I'll not go back to Toyota when this is over. I'm a 5 time owner and I'm done. Thanks seatbelt Mike!

How can a mighty automotive manufacture allow the Toyota reputation suffer at such a rate? Unimaginable ! Some third generation faithful have suffered with many issues in just over a year. Oh, how we waited with great anticipation for what surely would be the finest, most powerful, refined as much as a truck could possibly be..............and yet Toyota engineered this............2016 Tacoma. We know all the Tacoma cool aid consumers think we have lost our minds and have nothing better to do other than complain about our Taco, we should fold up the tent and go home with our much than acceptable truck. Toyota does not care which is evidenced by the dealers , factory and technical support teams. However in Toyota's defense more pressing issues overshadow third generation woes. Safety issues that have resulted in some deaths of Toyota, Lexus customers. For all that have suffered with injuries and the loss of loved ones , we are deeply sorry. Wake up Toyota many of your faithful followers are departing. Toyota quality control is on a slippery slope. For all that have cashed in the 2016 Tacoma , I feel your pain, I am very close to joining the dearly departed. Enjoy your replacement vehicles

I feel for you and everyone on here with problems with their new Tacoma's. I didn't need a full size either but Toyota pushed me into it unfortunately, but I'm not regretting it at all. I was getting 12.5 to 13.4 mpg with my Tacoma and now I can get 17 to 21 mpg depending on speeds with the F150 3.5 EB and my wife loves the extra room. Good luck with your Tacoma, I hope Toyota figures out a way to make everyone happy here because that's what they need to do! It isn't right to sidestep the tranny problems and it's upsetting to see people on here not getting satisfaction with their new trucks. Hell they had the best truck up until 2015 and they just pissed it all away in my opinion.

I got the 3.5 EB. The salesman talked me into it. He said it would outperform the 5.0. I know a bunch of guys with the 5.0 so I'll have to find out for sure, but it has tons of power, no tranny issues and very comfortable and roomy inside so I'm extremely satisfied with it.

I saw a pile of 2016 Tacoma's traded in also. It's sickening! Just go on Craigslist and do some searches and they're all over too. It's unfortunate that their is so many people are fed up with them. 9 on one lot should tell a pretty good story of what's going on.

I never posted before about this, but when I had the Toyota Field Service Tech down from Corp., there was 4 other new Tacoma owners waiting to talk to him about the same issues with the tranny's. He never even drove mine, just told me that's how they are and Toyota might come out with another TSB later, but it would only be a SMALL improvement from the regular TSB so that made my decision to get rid of mine. Mine needed a lot more than a small improvement and I wasn't confident Toyota would/could fix the issue.

Out of curiosity I just looked on line at Koons Ford near DC where I bought my last new F150 for $8300 under msrp. They are discounting new F150 trucks over $11000. That is extremely tempting. I just don't know if I want to go back to such a large truck. I do love the size of the Tacoma but Ford does have excellent worry free transmissions in their excellent trucks.

So, DtoE on my truck on the first ever gas fill up was 416. Second fill up ever droped to 385 DtoE. Had the TSB done at 2,000 miles. Now have 3,200 on my truck. Went to get gas today and low and behold out of the blue my DtoE went back to 416, 3,000 miles later. Now, my MPG has had little variation over those 3,200 miles. So wtf?

I hate it for you. Right now my only issue is sluggish 1-2 and 2-3 shift that I am dealing with by using ect up to cruising speed. That is getting old. What are you going to buy. That is the biggest drawback to me. I am still getting killer mpg and that is what keeps me driving it. That and the fact I love the look, ride and features of the truck. I have no clue what I would buy if I sold mine. Nissans are outdated. Colorados have problems. F150's are too big. Wife has the suv so don't need another 5 -7 passenger vehicle. Have no clue what I would buy. Loved my 2nd gen but mpg sucked even though it was totally trouble free. I am going to hang in there through the winter with tightly crossed fingers that Toyota gets their head out of their butt and engineers a transmission fix that lasts longer than the 1500 miles the TSB lasted. Miss the simplicity of driving without any issues. Still have tons of warranty before I get to a must sell point. What really sucks is I only owe $11k on mine and do not want to go farther in debt on another new one with retirement around the corner. Take a minute and vote on the petition/survey thread if you have not done so. Thought that would be a helpful tool but response really died. It still helps recording the issues. One reason I am hanging on is that I would be so pissed if I did sell mine and THEN Toyota found a cure. Then would have to pay top dollar to buy another one later. Whatever you do I wish you luck. I feel your pain and disappointment as do many others.

Had the TSB done to my truck a week ago and it solved all the problems I was having. No more delayed engagement from park to reverse or reverse to drive. Also the shifting is much tighter when driving the truck. I encourage everyone who has had any problems to contact their dealership and have it done. You will prolly have to argue with them about it to get them to do it but if you go in there with the TSB number which is (T-SB-0077-16) they should do it no questions asked since it shows you've done your homework and know exactly what's wrong.

Most of us had it done but it has proven to be temporary. Good for 1000 to 1500 miles. The only permanent fix is the delay from park to drive or reverse to drive. I will say mine was freakin awesome while it lasted. Now back to pre-TSB shift issues. Mine was done in late July the day after the TSB came out.

Toyota is working on some new software for our trucks. I have no idea when it will come out, at this time, but it is in the works. The source: one of the transmission control unit programming engineers from Toyota.

Third band aid applied to the gaping wound 10/25/16, visited dealership to have Toyo tires assessed on the front for cupping, feathering issues to outside if tires, alignment ok, tire balance ok? ,proper inflation, two front tires replaced at 3,718 miles, warranty, who paid Toyo or Toyota ? Sorry for the rambling, shop foreman spent time with me listening to my controlled ranting. Shop foreman voiced his feelings about 2016 Tacoma, does not like engine/ transmission configuration and admitted he would not own one. He currently owns 2014 Tacoma , we shared our good fortune with our second generation Tacos. Reset shift values, T-SB-0077-16, and wished me well even if for a very short time, glad all experiencing improvements , enjoy while it lasts, if your 2016 Tacoma is afflicted with drivetrain issues, the information from Toyota technical support , final fix had not been developed, sorry for us , shameful for Toyota, they are frustrated, what about all of the unfortunate owners.on second set of front tires..........appears to be a never ending story! Nearing disposal , unfortunately for me, unable to find a Tacoma equal, save drivetrain debacle. Rise up 2016 Tacoma faithful.........we are only kidding ourselves...................we are on an island alone !

Odd that I read this . I have used up two sets of tires in 19k on my truck. I had serious issues with my transmission.... after a quart of fluid and the update mine seems decent.

Do you guys have 2 or 4 wheel drives. Any front suspension mods. My sport 2 wheel drive is wearing tires excellent with no mods except 8" wide wheels with 265/70/17 tires. I also wonder if anyone has done the TSB a second time if the dealer would even do it. Mine was great til the returd after 1500 miles.

My next Door neighbor is a executive and a engineer with Toyota Corp. He travels all over the World but his home base is here in SLO. He told me first thing you do is align the front end of my new Taco, which I did. I changed the stock taco tires as well to Goodyear Wranglers (Kevlar). He tells me 1 out of 100 are aligned correctly from the factory. My allingment guy confirmed when he did the work wheels were horribly toed in and would've ate up the outside of tires in 5-8 k...

I have not had any tire wearing issues what so ever.
