Great post ! Run John run, as fast and as far away as possible away from the third generation . At this juncture you are only undecided on the third gen. Once in your possession odds are many frustrations will haunt you as your Tacoma becomes possessed . No, don't do it! You don't need all the grief that more than likely will fall upon you. Eventually Toyota will develope a permanent improvement to third's drivetrain debacle. For all that have properly operating Tacomas , congratulations, exactly what you signed on for.

After owning 9 Tacoma's and the last one a 2016 turd with tranny issues I traded it off for a Ford F150 Eco-boost and I couldn't be happier, the Ford F150 IS awesome! Great MPG and no shifting issues and tons more room and tons more power. Toyota you messed up big time by putting an extremely poorly made product out on the market and told us there's nothing wrong with our trucks. We're not stupid, we know how a truck should be and after owning 9 Tacoma's, I know you have a piece of crap here.

I like the tranny. Might give the TSB a try when it comes out, only if I can go back if I don't like it.

I bought a new trd pro put 500 miles on already first thing I noticed was the changed shift pattern compared to my 2016 trd off road. The truck shifts smooth ,no hesitation from park to rev or drive engagement although the hunting hasn't t been alliveated it is much better .
By the way the shock package on the trd pro is absolutely awesome!

Same here, I love my truck! Took a ride in my buddies 2015 Off Road Taco yesterday, so glad I sold my 14 and upgraded this 16!

I had my tsb done a week ago. Less than 300 miles later...Already went back to delayed P to D. My truck literally rolls down the hill while transmission click-click-click to find D. Hope revision 1 works permanent when available.

That is strange because my P-D and R-D delay has not returned since TSB done late July. My other issues did return.

From my observation, our collective behavioral truck observations might be the result of Folie a' deux...

I wonder why some are being told the original tsb is no longer available and some are still getting it done? I had mine done Friday.....

You probably had the revised TSB done. That is the one we are all patiently waiting for long term results. Mine has the flare so I am extremely cautious in being overly optimistic in the new revision. Does not seem to mention my issue. I don't have issues at 5-6 or in high elevations and have no harsh lower gear shifting. I am still using ect up to 35 mph and then it works fine.

For those who had the TSB applied then report their turck reverted back to the original behavior, plese help me understand how this is possible. I had the TSB applied about 2000 miles ago, and all still seems fine.

You were just lucky. Mine reverted after 1500 miles.

I just checked my service record. I was mistaken. I had the TSB done 1250 miles ago. Hope it "holds". Still, I'm curious why it wouldn't.

A great question , wish Toyota could issue an answer to those loyal owners who are affected, based on your miles since T-SB -0077-16, you are real close to regression time .

There's a good reason why there's a Rev 1. I'm hopeful that it fixes the shift points. The shift flare is probably something that they can't fix. However, I don't recall having it until after the first TSB. Maybe they'll undo that if it was an unintended consequence.

I had the flare pre-TSB and it returned 1500 miles post-TSB.
