Shifting issues were addressed. After the first TSB I had done in July, I held gears longer, no longer had the surge between park and reverse or park and drive, and I barely have to step on the gas to get it to downshift when climbing a hill. I also don't hunt for gears as badly anymore and don't hold out gears too long after climbing a hill like I used to. Maybe you never actually got the first TSB? My hope is the new revision makes things even better but I'll tell you the first TSB made a big difference.

I've had the first update and the fluid added. From what I'm hearing from you guys my clunking and jerky Trans issues are completely different than what the updates are fixing. Again I don't doubt that this is another growing pain for a new truck etc, I just don't feel like driving a 36k experiment on Toyotas behalf.

One day in the not too distant future.
Called dealer to make appointment to get rev 1 flash. Great news Carlos said rev 2 just came out. You can come in now. Rushed to dealer. As soon as they got my key fob Miguel said rev 3 now supersedes rev 2. Pablo pulled my truck in and hooked up their scanner. Then Ernesto told me they won't have the update until tomorrow morning so they gave me a loaner. The next morning Alejandro called and said they got rev 4 instead. Before they can install it they have to drain all the atf, fill it with new rev 4 vinegar flush, run up to operating temp, drop the pan, steam the filter, refill with atf and run for 1 hour. 2 hours later Pedro called. We found the problem. Apparently someone had installed a vinegar substance in the transmission. We also found the fluid was overfilled. I said didn't you flush it with vinegar and didn't you fill the fluid. Then Pedro started screaming in spanish and hung up on me. 5 minutes later Hector called from the dealer and said that my Yaris service is complete. Steaming mad I rushed to the dealer. The service writer, Juan, told me they never called. I said so wtf is going on with my truck. He said when they applied the rev 11 flash update they had several faults. Keep the loaner they said. We will be installing rev 12 with your brand new 100,000 mile extended warranty 6 speed manual transmission. The end ?

Yall are some dramatic guys. I just picked up our 2015 c300 this week as I await 60+ parts ordered to complete a replacement of the rods and pistons while it's down for 2 to 3 weeks getting a complete engine rebuild. and yall are crying about some software updates that have no downtime and fix minor drivability concerns. No perspective.

I fail to see how there is a parallel between your c300 and the toyota. Nobody is asking you to compare your european cars problems with the issues here. There is a collective that has had problems with the truck and I guess we're just supposed to say "first world problem, fuck it I'll just keep driving it until there's something to really bitch about" I assume that "no downtime" doesn't include the time it's at the dealership while they plug it in and mess with it. I will just stop looking through the forum so that my grievance with the new truck doesn't offend the toyota faithful. I really hope it's not bothering you too much, as I'm sure you've got better things to do than be on this forum reading our complaints and issues....

Not everyone has the time to keep going to the dealer during the week for a few hours on end, maybe that's a luxury that you have but not the majority of us.

If you're looking for a safe space where you can whine about things out of your control, why don't you just sell the truck and find a problem free vehicle?

    Edit: maybe a ridgeline?

I guess some folks are okay with taking it up the a$$ with a 36K vehicle that shifts like a Yugo.

I had mine updated- it did not. And mpg went further down the shitter. And then it started hard clunking on downshifts and the diff was beginning to whine. I traded it in yesterday. If I'm going to have a problem truck with shitty mileage, I might as well get a full size with some decent HP and torque, better mileage and take my chances there.

Oh and my 4 low engagement was a 50/50 proposition. When I needed it the ONE time hunting- it would not engage. It seemed to only want to engage after it rolled a bit a few times.

    Nifty little feature. Not.

That qualifies as the "I gots mines" statement, I'm glad it worked out for you. Maybe just maybe there are those it hasn't worked out for, but I'll be over in my safe space burning the american flag with my man bun.

Good, you actually did something about it. Hopefully your GM trade in doesn't have the piston ring failure my Terrain had, or the cracked head that resulted in a long block replacement, or my father in law's silverado that is now consuming over 1 quart of oil in 1000 miles. That would have been a bummer to have traded in a truck with problems getting updated with software, and a noise to something that needs a full engine rebuild. Time will tell. Good luck!

Yeah, maybe if you complain about it enough on the internet to an echo chamber, it will fix itself!

Or I get one like my friends 2015 GMC- already has 45,000 trouble free miles with the 6.2 8spd combo. It's all a crap shoot.

And I doubt a software fix is going to help that differential. And it may not help with the 4lo engagement.

Based on your vehicular debacles one would only imagine, when are you coming out from under the either ? As is is said"the squeaking wheel gets the oil" , perhaps your hallowed Tacoma was a gift, for most were paid for by the owners. If ever the case arise , you call Toyota Corp. , and the customer rep. Thanks you for the input, in most cases you are invited to keep the pressure on Toyota. When you fall silent on any issue, responsible parties take there is a correction of issues. You are very fortunate, you complained two some odd months, rewind to 2016 introduction, can't imagine you would maintain the same stance. Third tbs completed on my Tacoma 9977-16 Rev.1 as well, hopefully this is the fix, 8 Subarus ( all with issues) for you, 5 Tacomas ( only one with issues 3rd gen. ) for Mikey, perhaps it takes a more advanced learning curve for Scooby.
