Cold start. Reverse to drive delay was not there this morning!. Also stop and go low speed feels better. It used to get in the wrong gear and lunge in stop and go as it geared up or down. That seems to be addressed also.

My truck is already at the dealer today for the 15k service so I am going to see if they can do the TSB at the same time. I too am very curious to see how it changes the shift characteristics...if at all.

Do we need to tell the dealership anything specific to look up in order to get this task accomplished? I took mine in originally (4 weeks ago or so) and they basically laughed at me telling me it was a Tacoma and they are indestructible. I just want the damn rev to drive delay to be fixed and I would be much happier!

As far as I can see it does cover all 3.5 litre trucks with the 6 speed automatic .
Unfortunately the procedure for the TSB doesnt mention checking the transmission fluid before the calibration tsb is performed .
Checking the transmission fluid should be the very first step in any diagnostic / calibration flash update .
If you think about it , skipping out on the transmission fluid level check before performing the flash could lead to poor transmission performance . The transmission adaptive learning software isnt going to learn properly with low fluid .
Great to see the TSB mind you . Toyota listened to all you guys who called corporate and released a tsb.
Goes to show you that if enough complaints are documented , they will do something

I don't really know how these TSB's work. I am picking my truck up today. Is this something that should be done regardless of whether it is showing the symptoms? I want to have them check my transmission fluid either way. My brother just brought his 2016 in for the 5K check. He was having symptoms. When they checked it was 1 quart low.

If the dealer you go to is a by the book type, they will require a complaint so they can track it in the log. If you want the TSB done, just state that you're having one of the symptoms this is supposed to alleviate.

They may also require some sort of complaint in order to check the trans fluid since it is a bit of a lengthy process.

My truck exhibited the behavior noted in the TSB for the first few weeks I had it, but it cleared up after 500 miles or so. I'm going to have TSB performed nonetheless.

So basically I should just fabricate a complaint to get them to do it? I want to be sure it's right, I'm not driving around for 5 thousand miles. It's possible that these things could not be right, but it would not show the symptoms right?

Just sent this to my "service advisor" at my dealership. I had my truck there earlier this week for some other items and mentioned some erratic shifting. They said they couldn't get it to duplicate it. We'll see what they have to say now. Thanks for sharing.

If it's not showing the symptoms now, it may never have the symptoms and could be fine the way it is. Or you may have them in another 5000 miles or 50000 miles. Regardless of the timeframe, the TSB will still be there. You can always talk to the dealer and see if they will do it without any of the symptoms. Doesn't hurt to ask.

To make sure your truck qualifies, check the 5 digits of your VIN starting at position 4. It needs to match one of the VDS codes below. For example, 5TFGZ5AN.........
