"Should" but many of us never got one despite getting the update performed. Some dealers are just not dotting all "I's" and "T's" -- the sticker doesn't change anything really. Some dealers were just low on stickers or being lazy.

No sticker here but don't care. I have the receipt and it is on my service record. All that matters is how well it performs.

I brought my truck in this morning to Courtesy Toyota in Brandon, FL for the 5000 mile service. I brought a hardcopy of the TSB (thanks Tacomaworld) and the guys were great! I talked to the tech while he did it and told me he was well aware of the issues and had done several (along with fluid checks on tranny). It took about twenty minutes to run through the update and it seems to be better. The truck seems to shift a lot quicker, but the tech told me it should improve further with driving. Worth it to me so far!

I had also taken my Taco to Courtesy Toyota Brandon, FL this morning, for the TSB. Did they put a sticker under your hood? I also had them change my turn signal from 3 seconds to 5 seconds.

Had mine done thursday for the shift delay. The shift delay is better, but i also feel the normal upshifting while driving is smoother.

That crispy feeling will go away. Once the trans relearns, it's back to crappy. R to D has improved at least. On a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being totally fixed), the flash update is a 4.

I agree. Had the TSB done a while ago and noticed that it seems to be heading towards the shift patterns before the TSB was done. Wish there was a way to stop the trans from relearning my driving habits.

I have had the TSB roughly 400 miles over 2.5 weeks and it seems to be maintaining the shift pattern. My biggest gripe was the R-D hesitation which is completely gone. It goes into D instantly. I also had 1-2 and 2-3 hesitation on acceleration. That is much better than the 6 months before the TSB. It absolutely has better power when I step on it. Should I say correct gearing when I step on it.

Definitely NOT the experience I had at Crown. Had to argue with them - "we can't just do a transmission update without duplicating the problems"...
    Consider yourself lucky.

Well they tried that crap with me too but once the shop foreman said himself the TSB resolves the R to D lag he just did it. I've been going to them since I bought my 2002 Tundra and so far this was the only resistance I have had.

I've put about 1000 miles on the TSB.

It's not perfect, but it's damn good now. I did mountain trips before and after the TSB and the difference is very obvious. It really seems to know how to put the power down now. I only used ECT once for a particularly aggressive mountain road section, the rest of the time the standard mode was fine.

Having a usable cruise control is a thing of beauty.

    Grades

    Pre-TSB: 75%.
A solid C. It worked, but certainly not up to its potential. Not a worthy effort from Toyota.

    Post-TSB: 95%.
A solid A. It does everything it is supposed to do, and well. There are a few nit-picks (occasional cold surging, the rare flubbed shifts when I change input quickly), but I wouldn't even notice them if I weren't hypersensitive.

Like many have said, it's made me love my truck all over again. My dealer was great about getting it done.

It does make me want to slap whoever it was that let the original version out the door.

I'm not sure if they did. I'll check when I get off of work today. Did you get a sticker?

The tech who did the update told me he was expecting Toyota to release some "hardware or parts" updates as well for our trucks.

    tonneau,
I had update done yesterday, no sticker though. Dealer said he could not replicate but did the update anyway. I checked my own trans fluid a few months back and it was a quart low. Time will tell but the reverse to drive delay seems to have gone away

I had a similar experience with my dealer. I opened a case with Toyota concerning the dealer's response, and 48 hrs later I got a call from that same dealer to bring it in for the update.

I'm with you. Mine is slowly degrading as well. What is fixed is the R to D and hwy shifting. Around town it still doesn't know what gear it needs. Your 4 is generous.

I still get the shift flare and it shifts to 4th way too soon. I suspect there's some hardware causing those issues. We'll see if they fix those.

Agreed. Have done almost 500 miles now and its back to the somewhat crappy/gear hunting shifting it had before (when driving in town). Highway however is much improved.
