Had mine looked at today in Wallingford CT, handed the TSB in with the keys and after about an hour they had reprogrammed the ecu and handed it back to me. They said if it keeps up I'll have to schedule another appointment where they can have the truck for the majority of the day to check the fluid. Truck seems pretty good, the tech drove it almost 7 miles to see what the issues were.

I read a post about unhooking the battery for 10 minutes and driving it hard afterwards to relearn your driving pattern. Has anyone else tried this?

Toyota called this morning, they were able to get the part for the tonneau. Think this was their first issue with the cover. Warranty item, will try to get it fixed tomorrow.

I will take a closer look at my truck tomorrow. I can't believe the price the dealer quoted the other gentleman to install...crazy! Thanks for the update.

I totally agree and I have been in the auto industry for 40+ years. I just think that dealer does not know what to do or how do anything except oil changes. I just wanted to see if any of you had this issue. Calling another dealer tomorrow.

Picked up my truck in Oct 2015, when the weather got cold...for Florida...I put it into D and there was a audible clunk as it went into gear, happened 3 times when the days were cold. Took it into the Toyota Dealership to have it checked out. They couldn't duplicate the problem...it was 20 degrees warmer, but they went ahead and checked my transmission fluid. The charge sheet showed 2 quarts were charged to warranty...meaning, it was at least over a quart low...possible close to 2. I believe that the trucks with the tow packages were filled the same as the one's without. A guy who deals in fluids for Toyota told me that all the new trucks coming into the port at Southeast Toyota are now checked to make sure the transmission fluid is at the proper level now. It was definitely a problem for trucks coming out of the Texas plant early on. The service guy had no clue at the time of any issues with the transmissions being low of fluid. Love my brother's and sister's on Tacoma World! The new TSB definitely has taken care of the gear searching...figured Toyota would get that figured out. The gear changing was driving me crazy, made little sense! Figured it was a computer adjustment, and it was. Believe they'll refine the adjustments over time and it will be top notch. My 3rd Tacoma, 4th Toyota truck.

Just stopped by my dealer in Bryan/College Station and asked them to do my truck, "yes sir, no problem" and I was back on the road shortly after:burnrubber:

It's a 45min drive back to the house, some slight hills along the way. Very noticeable improvement from before the TSB, with and w/o cruise control

Recommend you tell the Service Manager the truck has a hesitation going from P to D and searches for gears at different RPM's. Have the TSB number handy. Tell him/her that you've read up and this sounds like exactly what your truck is doing. At that point, unless their mechanic's are incompetent...They read the TSB and update accordingly. Honestly, the Service Manager acted like he hadn't heard of the problem...yet my buddy had the TSB done 2 weeks before. It requires hooking it up to the computer and flashing the unit with the TSB + a little sticker showing the TSB was done.

I'm in Houston too looking for a Toyota Dealership to check on my ATF levels because I am also experiencing the delayed R to D or P to D on a cold start (or even after driving for a while when I make it to a destination and reverse park). I also experience a lunge when shifting from P or R to D. I also experiencing a harsh downshift when letting off the gas pedal and coasting down from 45 mph down to the 30's or 20's.

Can you let me know if you find a dealership that will help address our transmission problems?

Also, does anyone know if there is a specific manufacture date at when Toyota started filling up their Tacoma's with the correct ATF level i.e. after 8/1/16 or something?

I was trying to find a manufacture date for my Taco using my VIN but I was unable to find a reliable site.

I go in for a 5,000 mile service on Tuesday, so I'll request the TSB at that time. Mainly my issue is with cruise control on- lot's of hunting and horrible mpg's at highway speed. If I use the manual gear selection and no cruise, I get far better mpg and really steady performance from the tranny.

Also have the vibrating hood and I'm going to bring up a sagging rear (drivers side). My drivers rear is 1" lower. I know that's the oft cited 'taco lean', but I think it's bullshit on a new truck.

Took mine in today for a "Transmission check" told the service advisor that theres an update available that would fix the delay from Park to Reverse or Drive and other things that comes with the transmission, he called in a technician to ask him if there was one and tech says yes.

Dropped it off around 9:45 am and was told that it would be ready around 3pm or so. He wanted me to leave my truck so they can have it cooled down and try to copy the problems i was having.

Overall pretty good experience with the tech. Ill let you guys know how i think about it when i get it back.

Had mine done last week. Approx 500 miles since and Im very happy overall. I have noticed a slight kick when slowing down rapidly as it downshifts, but not all the time.
Kenny Ross Toyota in Moon twp pa was excellent. They were aware of the issues and willingly took care of them for me.

I searched the thread for 2017 but couldn't find a definitive answer on if 2017's have this TSB already applied. Looking to get back into a Tacoma and in negotiations on a 2017 and was wondering if this TSB is applicable. Thanks,

Anybody got a hesitation at about 1500rpm's when launching from a stop? Got the TSB done the other day, they said a mechanic had the same issue and it resolved it. NOT the case with mine.

If you go back to the first page or so the TSP bulletin lists the impacted VIN#'s, I would imagine that 2017 model years are not impacted. My 2016 had a build date of 06/10/16 and it was listed under the TSB.

Good to know that the service department is decent. Toyota of Orlando has been the worst experience I have ever experienced. I was going to try David Maus in Lake Mary for my 10k service but I'll try Autonation.
    Thanks!
