something similar to me. felt the difference as soon as i left the dealership after a couple thousand miles it seems to be doing what it was doing before  At this point I just ignore it i do love my truck. My dealership is kinda of a pain in the ass to. I told them about the TSB service attendant didnt know what i was talking about i showed her paperwork and she told me "I should be coming to you with this paperwork not you bringing it to me, I cannot have the techs preform this until they drive it and they decide if it needs to be done or not" i left the truck there for a few hours since it has a 15k check up. came back and told me that they did preform the TSB it was typed on my paperwork that it was done...she did tell me to give her an update on how the truck was preforming after it was done so she knows it helped the issues it had hard shifting from 3rd to 4th, somewhat hunting for gears, and shifting going up hill(losing power) and sometimes it would stay on gear for a while not shifting into the next gear made it feel like it was stuck in gear i would move it to S to shift it to next gear felt like if i didnt do that i would do some damage to the engine . Im gonna send her a text tomorrow and let her know its being sluggish and we will see what happens from there :(

I had the TSB done last week (no hood sticker), but immediately noticed the lag from rear to drive while cold has been fixed. I'll know more after a few weeks of driving.

After a couple of days utilizing the ECT through 35 mph and switching it off I have found a happy medium in performance. The ECT does affect mpg since it runs up to 3000 rpms before shifting. Without using ECT I was cruising at 1000-1200 rpms at 25 to 35 and 45 mph. So now I use it up to my cruising speed and turn it off which drops the cruising rpms back down. I like the feel of the higher rpms but I am trying to maintain the killer mpgs. If Toyota would make a flash for my habits it would be great. I am just afraid, the way I am using it, I may be inadvertently causing transmission or ECT issues down the road. I have not driven a 2016 4 cylinder Taco but I cannot imagine it has as much or any more lag that I see on my 6 cylinder up through the first 3 gears. When I bought this truck it did not have the lag. If it did I would have test driven a proven 2.7 4 cylinder for comparison.

Hi, you may want to open a case on your transmission. It sounds like you have a valve body problem.

The hard 3-4 shift concerns me yu may want to open a case on your transmission. It sounds like you have a seemingly very common valve body problem.

I've had my '16 TRD Off Road Auto tranny for EIGHT months/ 6500+ miles, and even if I try to imagine shifting problems, I cannot perceive any. So, yes, there is AT LEAST ONE owner without transmission shifting issues.
    Sorry to disappoint! 20160911_074739.jpg

I'm happy to hear that! If they can get the issues fixed, I'll probably look at another one. Until then, I'll drive my 2014. I liked everything else about the 2016 I had.

By any chance are you employed by Toyota Corporate. Your statement is very suspicious and not normal for a 2016 Tacoma owner. I too have 6500+ miles and 8+ months of ownership and sounds like we have different truck brands.

By a Scan Gauge and check it that way...don't have to cut into any lines.

Ever since people started talking about these trucks.... The drive train, power plant, etc,; hey, I'm the guy that was SOOOOO close to cancelling his order. But didn't.
Believe me, I am absolutely HYPERSENSITIVE about everything and anything going on with this truck.
Note, being a commercial helicopter pilot for 30+ years, you fly full time anticipating DOOM. ...
I in fact just reviewed TSB-0077-16, and took the truck out AGAIN. Trying to convince myself the tranny has issues... Quirks..
    Timing problems...
    Nope, drives great.
So, again, sorry to disappoint, but NO, I'm not employed by Toyota. Guess I'm THEE lucky ONE. (But then, I survived all those years flyng too, most of it being in Alaska no less.)
Incidently, I also tow 2500lbs on semiregular occassion, cant complain there either. Though I do employ the ECT, and sport shift it as necessary.

They will get the issues straightened out. Wait until 2018 model to be safe.

Scan guage with transmission temp readout works great.

Why buy a scan guage..?? A piece of wire about 4" long will short out pins 9 and 13 on the OBD connector and with a bit of movement of the shifter.. you can put the truck into... "Check tranny temp" mode...
Read more on here if you want to do it yourself.. I did.. Was 3/4 liter low...

And how do you do that at 65 mph while towing your trailer down the highway? Believe me, it's much easier to look at the Scan Guage.
