19,000 miles on truck and battery needed jumped to start this morning. It had enough power to run the radio and lights but not enough to start the engine.
Anyone had similar issue? I would think the battery would last longer than 1.5 years..... I am stopping on the way home from work to get the battery checked at Auto Zone.

I've heard that the toyota batteries are pretty much crap. I actually started questioning mine yesterday.

2 years and haven't had a problem yet. Not even a hiccup. Is it possible that your key is kept within distance of the vehicle that the interior lights stay on?

Does the battery recharge after it's been running? Does it seem like everyday the vehicle struggles to start? Or was it just one instance that the battery failed?

I used the crap out of mine with winching and running accessories, light bars, etc on my 16, and they just told me that I will need to replace it soon. (work pays for oil changes so I just have the dealership do it and check everything else out) I just turned 52k miles on the first battery.

You may want to think about getting a dual battery setup if you have that many accessories. You could be wearing down your alternator too.

I jumped it this morning at 0600 and drove 14 miles to work, went out at 1400 to start it and it started but the battery drug hard when rolling over. No problems before this morning. Had the truck about a week.

I'd take it back to the dealership and have them put a new battery in it. It's possible that your truck was a showroom vehicle and the constant door opening and finger fucking from customers can really take a toll on the battery.

Yeah, I think I'll run a yellow top instead. Single battery worked out well for me thus far and I have a yeti I can jump it with if it comes to that. The alternator should be covered by the 120K mile bumper-to-bumper warranty if it has an early demise.

2 Things I do each fall....

    1...remove and clean the cables.
2...Top up the battery with H2O (distilled).

I usually get 8-9 yrs out of a battery.....

Something to think about....... How many of you guys can knowingly say ..... "My battery is FULL of H2O"...??

'Miles' has nothing to do with battery life.........

Number of key starts, alternator/regulator health, extreme weather conditions, number of deep discharges, number of deep discharges w/o full recharge, load resistance from wiring/terminal issues and just plain old age are battery killers.

Not to mention the quality of construction.

Read your paperwork and see what they outline for the battery.

If your truck/battery meet those guidelines visit a the dealer to exercise your warranty.

Yeah, they are "sealed"... just pop off the 2 top covers and "unseal" them.... Then fill to the bottom of the hole.....!!

Just like our "sealed" trannys..... hehehe...! They can be filled and checked also..!

Good luck.... Check your battery water level......BUT only use distilled H2O..!! I use water collected from my basement humidifier during the summer.... It's distilled. No need to buy any..!

So I went to AutoZone and it was a bad battery. I had it replaced. I am hoping this is the fix.

Should have taken it to the Dealer and have it changed under Warranty.
