If I remember during the release video. The manual version doesn't have MTS or crawl control. Or both.

id be willing to bet it doesnt, cus by nature of those systems you would have to have a computer operated clutch, and that aint happening. Like others have pointed out the MT does not come with DAC on the current tacos for this very reason.

Just to lighten up the mood. Some dislike things on the 2016 Taco but at least we aren't getting any of this BS. 5e6bebc62f07f9294b2da49f9a8b1bc7_a1adcfd2794ea0e088e96eb88715e6ac25592224.jpg

I took it off but put it back on. It's a daily driver and with all the idiots driving around I need sharper response with the steering. It dives and pushes much more without the SB and since maybe 5% of the time offroad it just didn't make sense for me. This has been discussed in many threads so lets not go there. I'd like it if I could disconnect on the fly as soon as I hit the dirt (Rubicon, 4runner, Power Wagon etc)

And now we're going to argue about sway bars too! Such a fresh topic for TW, I wonder what everyone will have to say about them?

I don't have an A-TRAC button on mine now. Guess I won't miss it.

Diesel electric would be cool, heck they're used in train locomotives. http://www.railway-technical.com/diesel.shtml Or maybe like a submarine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel-electric_transmission#Submarines

We used the WWII German submarine diesel electrics as backup generators all over Germany post WWII in our signal stations. Scrapped the skin from the submarine, used the diesel electric as backup power. Trouble was all the labels and instructions were in German and there was usually only one old German guy that understood how to operate the system.

Cool story for you, blast from the past, carry on.

Toyota already has the technology in the Diesel / Electric Hino cube truck

The 'I don't know, don't work for Toyota' replies is regarding why no button is seen in 2016 for A-TRAC. I certainly do know how A-TRAC in my truck works and can tell you A-TRAC is leaps ahead of previous stock Tacoma traction systems, and only front and rear lockers (not both available from Toyota on a Tacoma) can match or exceed the traction of A-TRAC.

Most will NEVER go to the crazy places that require front and rear traction (limited slip, no spin) systems, so they will never miss A-TRAC or whatever Toyota renames it. It is just great to know it is there... specially when you off road solo or far from help. I have never needed to be pulled by anyone else but I have pulled several others with my truck... My A-TRAC can be seen pulling James up the Diablo DropOff in the sig link... Note tire rotation:

yup, i have used atrac quite a bit and its simply amazing how well it works. In that vid did you have the rear locked?

BTW.... this vid is proof why you buy a 4x4 trd OR.

Yes, when pulling others, I also lock the rear in order to keep the momentum up. If I wasn't pulling or in snow, I would just use A-TRAC alone.

All the 2009+ Tacos have the Auto-LSD. Is that like A-TRAC for just the rear wheels?
