Or if it is part of MTS then MTS is different between the OR and Sport/Limited models.

I think we have branched into so many possibilities at this point that we have to admit:

    - The button went away
    - Now there are other buttons and knobs
    - We don't know much else

Though it certainly would be interesting to see the inside of the OR engine compartment and see if the vacuum booster is now in that model as well.

I don't think diffrrent MTS across the models would make any sense

Question on MTS & Crawl. Can both be used simultaneously on the New Tacoma?

Swears said Off-road models would not be vacuum and retain the hydro boost system.

Wow, this thread got out of hand quick. As far as ATRAC is concerned, it doesnt need a button because it has a dial now. The MTS dial is essentially an adjustable ATRAC. Dialed all the way should yield current ATRAC performance while on lower settings are less intrusive. IIRC this was hashed out extensivley on T4R (my wife has a 5th gen).

That's what I'm thinking , which would mean all the TRD models would have it

I didn't catch him saying that. But if the ATRAC system is still in existence in some form (in MTS or Crawl Control) it would make sense that that the hydroboost would still be used. ATRAC would seem to be brake intensive, quickly draining whatever vacuum a reservoir might contain. Hydroboost is a natural fit for that.

I can see ATRAC being integrated with both the CC and the MTS. Seems like it would be most useful with the ability to throttle it manually though, like with the MTS. Who knows, maybe it's on by default whenever in 4LO? I can't see a reason to turn it off other than the possibility of overheating one of the brakes.

So, if Mr K is telling the truth about the abbilitys of A Trak, then a Sport with no locker should perform quite well off road with no locker, if that's how they will continue to be offered.

Thanks for the info. A-TRAC has always sounded like a very useful feature. My Sport didn't come with anything but ABS. I seem to have the only 05+ TRD anything model around here that doesn't come with some sort of help you drive feature. I just get by with my LSD, 6spd, and 4-Lo.

I had a 2005 OFF ROAD, and the only traction system it had (like my 2001) was the rear locker... the whole purpose of getting the Off Road TRD. Since 2009, the Off Road has A-TRAC as well. The Sport lost the mechanical limited slip (2005-2008) and since 2009 all Tacomas have the electronic limited slip (TRAC & AUTO LSD/TRAC OFF).

Yup, that's one reason I like having an 2008 model.

Doesn't your wife's T4R have both a dial and an A-TRAC button like in the 4 Runner overhead console picture that OZ posted several pages back?

yup TRD OR retains the much better electric boosted master cylinder. It will be interesting to see how they integrate the atrac feature, hell the picture of the "trd or's" mts / crawl control might of been from the limited, hence the button blank.

really how often are you changing the seats. I welcome the manual seats, much less shit to break.
