I don't understand the unwillingness to put the toys on the Limited. You can get a Tundra Limited with the off road package.

I remember seeing a video where a Toyota designer explained that the Tacoma is marketed more to people who will actually take their truck off-road.

It is a little more than that.

Available on Tundra SR5 and Limited Grades. This package includes 18-in. 5-spoke alloy wheels with P275/65R18 Off-Road tires, tow hooks (4x2), off-road-tuned suspension, Bilstein® shock absorbers, engine and fuel tank skid plates, and exclusive TRD graphics on bed quarter panels.

No locker, though, I'll grant you that.

No, because the sport models don't have atrac.
No because she has an SR5 not a trail. I just remember the thread and maybe a few videos (I think a combo of Toyota and homemade). Her SR5 has ATRAC which gets her through everything she's brave enough to take on. Its actually one the reasons I traded in my '08 sport for my '11 OR.

I wonder if there will be a TRD Pro version.

A TRD OR built into a Baja/PRO hybrid

Supposedly there will be, it was addressed in one of the other threads. It won't be for a while though.

I heard there will be a Tacoma TRD PRO version, but not until 2016. That is what I am setting my sights on! :)

    Just found this:

    http://toyotanews.pressroom.toyota.com/releases/2015+naias+2016+toyota+tacoma+dominates.htm

Of most importance to this thread is this tidbit:
"Additional off-road technology includes Automatic Limited Slip and Locking Rear Differential, Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), Clutch Start Cancel (manual transmission only), Active Traction Control, and Crawl Control.* Engaging Crawl Control allows the driver to select a speed of 1-5 mph.* The Crawl Control system takes over the acceleration and braking, allowing the driver to focus solely on steering."

    Active Traction Control is A-TRAC.

I think it looks really sharp everywhere except that front end. Like many have said before a After Market Off Road Bumper will be a tough design for this. At least to me a well designed and set up tough front end is the first thing I look at.

The front end is starting to grow on me. If I trade my 08 for a 16, I know I'll miss the orange dash lighting, and the steering wheel. I didn't like the steering wheen in the 2012 rental I had. It felt cheap. I hope they give the new Tacoma a better 6spd too.

Good find. Maybe another item scratched off the meltdown list around here.

Still wondering if it is a stand alone switchable feature or integrated into one of the other traction devices

Is there a reason to not have it on all the time in 4Lo? It could just auto lock on with 4Lo.

    A few bolts are different.
*assuming same as trail 4Runner system

Crawl control is only available in 4low. It has its own on/off that is independent of terrain select.
Left knob is crawl control, right is terrain select.

Yeah , the interior pics of the 2016 seem to show a single knob that adjusts the MTS and Crawl control depending on which button is pushed , and the ATRAC button is absent

So what are you selecting in MTS mode? Degree of slipperyness?
