Hey guys im new to the forum, I have a quick question. I have a 2016 automatic trd offroad, I was wondering when I put it in manual shift mode, is it possible for me to switch the + and - shift. Example unstead of pushing forward on the shifter to shift up it would be to shift down, and pulling the shifter toward you would shift up instead of shift down. Ive seen the same automatic shift pattern with the bmw without the paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Not sure why you want to do this unless you enjoy getting pegged in your seat when you shift, maybe if you want to tear down your shifter to see if you could rotate your sport shift sensor harness 180 degrees....(if their is one) I would not recommend it, even if it is possible.

The main reason is shift preference, look up stadium trucks, they have the same shift preference, honestly to me it makes sense...

Pulling it back to shift up would feel more natural to me as well.
But why would it be a bad thing, if even possible?

Agreed, I don't mind hacking physical stuff too much, but electronic stuff I like to be very nice and reliable.

I really really wanted to troll this tread and post a picture of my manual transmission.

Anyway, my old Touareg was like the Tacoma setup and it did not seem intuitive. Paddle shifters made it feel a bit more natural but, I missed the feel of a manual.

I'd be curious to see if it could be reprogrammed to stay in the gear you're currently in when you shift to manual mode instead of always going into 4th which makes no sense to me.
