Don't take it personal, lots of good things about the new truck but its not perfect and lots of not so great things. That engine squeezed in there is one of them. Not sure if you've done spark plugs before on the 4.0L but I've done it on my 08 and 11 and its rather easy, that new engine bay looks difficult to work in. But as others have pointed out if Toyota is smart and puts the right plugs in you won't have to change them for 100k.

you realize the sparkplugs are literally in the same spot at the 4.0L ... shouldnt be hard to get to and at at a minimum of 30k intervals who cares if it takes 2x as long to do spark plugs.

Im no expert mechanic, but that looks a lot more squeezed, things in my way to get to the driver side plugs than the current 4.0L. Be curious where the oil filter is located, the 4.0L is amazing in that aspect, easiest oil changes ever. Again just voicing differences between the two, everyone is calling out the 2nd gen faults, the 3rd gen has some what looks to be quirks as well.

I have to say I'm not a fan of the huge decal on the back. Too much unneeded info, might as well say "TRD4X4OFFROADSPORTDCLBFTMFW"

I am not a fan of the grill either at this point. As tight as the front ends look on the 4 runner, and even the Camry and corolla, I was hoping for something that makes you say daaaaamn.

Agree but it's an easy fix. Heat gun @ the dealer or in your driveway as soon as it's purchased. Did it to my Super Duty when I bought it. With the desert sun I live under decals don't tend to last for as long as I keep a lot of my vehicles.

I guess you've got a point. As I said, I have come to just feel like drum brakes are a thing of the past in general. When I worked in a shop I always found them to be a hassle change compared to disc and they are weaker.

I feel like the braking is weak on these trucks in general, which is why I considered a conversion. I know that is at least in part due to the fact I am used to a higher power car with performance oriented braking.

I hear steel brake lines will give your braking some pep due to them not expanding. Good to have for lifting as well.

That is a really good point...still need to install those on my GTO too lol. I will probably do that first and see how the feel is. Pretty cheap way to start.

I took my 07 to have the drums inspected at 160k. The guy told me he would replace if I just wanted to spend some money, otherwise they were fine. So there's a positive.

They do the job adequately but...........a 2015 Colorado stops quicker from 60 and brakes better with a trailer than a 2015 Tacoma, and the Colorado is heavier. The Tacoma uses drum instead of disc brakes as a cost cutting measure. If drums were so great the FJ cruiser, 03+ 4runner, 07+ Tundra, Landcruiser, and GX would have them. Disc braking system > drum brakes. Only a fool or fanboy would argue that. My 94 Supra turbo is at 91k miles on it's original rear pads/rotors. And I constantly stomp on the brakes hard. When they are due to be replaced I'll do it in 15 minutes per side. Wow, that is one tough job there, ill tell ya:rolleyes:

Drums will get the job done. Discs will do it better.

Exactly. This is how the conversation should end. Anyone that wants to argue against that statement doesn't know what they're tlaking about. Most of the stopping power comes from the front anyway and that's why there are disk brakes at the front. Case closed.
