Hello all, this is my first post and I'm just curious as to what the community would think of my first experience with Toyota!

At Christmas 2016, I began smelling a strong odor of gas inside the cab. I didn't think anything of it for a day or too, but the odor was so obnoxious I had to drive with the window open. I took it straight to the dealership and haven't seen it since. The dealership had no idea what was wrong with it and had to call the mechanic from Toyota Canada 2-3 times I believe. Very little communication with me as to what the solution was going to be and I have been bounced around from the dealership to Toyota Canada, gave me a Corolla then a minivan as a replacement until I asked for something bigger since I was planning on doing some renos around my house over the winter. That being said, I missed a few late season hunts because I didn't have my truck.

Since the 2016 was the introduction of a new motor (direct and port injection), they thought it was the high pressure fuel lines, then they thought it was the injectors.

I'm concerned that I have a lemon and I'm going to get the short end of the stick. I've contacted OMVIC and spoke to a representative who was 'shocked!!' that they have had my taco for almost 3 months and forwarded me to an arbitrator who hasn't called me back yet. I've been paying for a Taco, but driving a Corolla (then a minivan) for almost 3 months and they are making it seem like it's my problem. :crapstorm:

I must conclude that I'm very disappointed with Toyota Canada's customer service and now am reluctant to believe the reliability of the truck I got.

Has anyone had similar experience with Toyota? Anyone have similar issues with their truck?

Whatever you do DONT use NCDS ( national center for dispute settlements ) which is Toyotas arbitration company. Im not sure about Canada but the AAA ( American arbitration association ) is a truly neutral party and not paid for by Toyota.

Contact Toyota Corp. in writing via registered and trackable method. That is a requirement in the USA to initiate lemon law proceedings in most states.

Yeah after a week I'd be in there handing the keys back to them and telling them to stuff the truck where the sun don't shine then hang out in front of the dealer with a lemon sign and a lawn chair... oh and a wool blanket.. or 2.

Its alright for the OP to ask generalized questions but I fully agree he should not get into specifics as that can be used against him, Toyota is a big company that does not want to Lemon any vehicles and will use any resources against you that they can.

If you'd like to have a civil conversation about this matter feel free to PM me. I understand the mentality but there is no nice way to say your incorrect and not to give bad advice without you getting upset. Am I correct? Im all for civil discussions but if someone tells me to " shut the fuck up" then Im pretty much done dealing with that hostility.

So wait...they made you sign an agreement that you would talk about the things wrong with your truck. Sneaky lawyers.
