I know there are other posts out there about 2013 transmission shudder, but I noticed in my 2016 a constant shudder up hills. I took it to the dealer yesterday and they did not want to check the fluid, however in the end they checked it and it was a quart low from the factory...no leaks noted. Just wanted to put it out there that if you experience a shudder effect, take it to the dealer and insist it is checked. Another symptom was when I put it in gear, reverse or drive, it would take several seconds before it would engage. I asked the technician if this could have caused permanent damage (1800 miles on it). He said it shouldn't have, but if damage occurred it would show itself within a few 100 miles. Any thoughts?

Just wanted to share the message with everyone

I am having the same issue when the truck is cold i back from my driveway or parking lot and then put it in D and there is that delay of 2 seconds to go into gear, no shudder though. I am taking mine to the dealer tomorrow as i was told to fill the fluids too. Did toping then ATF fix yours?

They called me late today so I'm going to pick up tomorrow; still driving the loaner Corolla. I'll post tomorrow and let you know if it made a difference. Please post and let me know if yours is low. How many miles do you have on it?

I have only 500 miles on it. Took it the first time a week after i bought it and dealer said everything was fine, but almost positive they didn't check the fluid even though they say they did. You had to leave it overnight? I am hoping i don't have to , had to leave it last time and for nothing.

I did have to leave it. Part of the process of checking it is letting it cool down to I believe less than 180 degrees. Either way they said for the best test it needs to be cooled.

no way i am leaving the truck again... that is why i am going very early tomorrow if i have to wait for it i will but to me they just want you to go away so you won't see if they are doing anything to the truck . Last time they told me they checked the fluid but i caught the lie the next day talking to my friend at the dealer. so this time i will not leave until they check it

Yeah I was worried they were going to do the same to me. I actually talked with their senior service technician and he said it is quite a lengthy and in-depth process so you hanging out may not be a bad idea.

yes it is a lengthy process but i do not trust any of them, is not their truck and it is not (for them) a major failure so they don't care and i actually want to see when they do it. Anyway i will wait for it tomorrow . Send me a PM once you pick it up to see if that took care of the issues, does yours have the tow package?

reason why i asked you about the tow package is because apparently the tow package requires more fluid . they pour the same quantity of AT regardless of Trim/model but with the tow package requires .6 quart to be added since it needs more. I am hoping that will solve my issue

I can't believe these trucks are being sold with low fluid..that is just unacceptable. I wonder if the owners manual specs have it listed with higher capacity fluid for the trucks with the towing package.

My deal fell apart at the dealer..... starting to think it was a good omen. Maybe I'll let things settle out before I try again.

that is exactly what i was told. The trucks with the tow package need more fluid because of the atf cooler

I had the tranny fluid checked today at dealer after reading about "issues" on several posts from TW. It turned out that it was just fine. It was a long hour and half process to have it done. At first they were not going to pay to have that done since I had to "issues", but I said I would pay for it. He didn't want me to have to pay for it on a new truck...so, he decided to put on the order that I was having "issues" with shifting (he lied for me so warranty would pay for the labor to have it checked). Anyway, it's over and I can now sleep at night :) I thanked him and moved on.
note: I have the sport 4x4 with V6 and tow package.
