Back then they were at also maximum production. in 2005 they sold 168k, in 2006 is was 178k. With the 5lug in the mix they offered a lot more trims but I still think that having a DCLB manual was not a priority because manuals wouldn't move the needle on sales. I stand by my original argument. They never made them because they never had to. I suspect the extra-long-wheelbase chassis probably always had it's own production line and it was never idle.

There was excess production capacity during the economic downturn, and they could have offered them then. At that time it was the case that it didn't matter what they built, nobody was buying so they opted to cut back production by cutting overtime shifts rather than try to get more customers. I bought mine during that slump and even with the unintended acceleration recall crap happening on top of it all, they still didn't offer any incentives on tacomas. Almost everything else was getting various levels of sticker discounts and financing deals. That says to me that even in the darkest days they were still selling every tacoma they built, even if they were building fewer of them.

Maybe the case but I think if they made some DCLB manuals they would sell fast. May not be a ton of demand for them but there is some pent up demand. I know it has kept me from buying a gen 2. I was holding out hope for the possibility of it happening on the gen 3.

I agree that if they made them, they would sell. My point is there is some maximum number of DCLBs they can produce in a given month, and all of them sell. Let's say its 1000 units. They can make 1000 automatics, or they can introduce complexity to their manufacturing and produce less than 1000 total of autos and manuals mixed. At the end of the month they will have sold fewer units than they would have if they produced just the autos.

If they ever get to the point that they can't move the theoretical 1000 units per month then they'll rationally be able to spend the time to tailor production to fit smaller niches. But first they will discount units to boost sales, then they will cut overtime to reduce capacity.

I guess the 5m and the 6m next to the v6 is just a random number instead of bed length. my bad I guess I can read a screen better than you.

and if you come back with 5 manual and 6 manual, guess what, they didn't make a 6 spd manual in 2015.

edit : and also that red circle, lol that means the picture may not look like the options you picked.

next time put both feet in your mouth so you don't make yourself look like an idiot.
