My new truck has developed the standard squeak in the clutch pedal. I have a fix for the spring noise which took two zip ties around the spring coil to dampen the spring which works great aslo added some moly-kote 111. This is a silicone paste/grease. Clutch pedal is quiet as a mouse. I believe this is Toyota's engineering department and their finance guys paying us back for having the smarts to not want the slop box auto they are offering. Putting out manual trucks bites there bottem line and they know they will last longer if you take care of them thus no magnet on the drain plug and the plastic clutch pedal time bomb design. Also ditching the 4 liter was another huge cost reduction. These trucks will not last as long as prior years because the motor needs more RPMs for the same torque. Anyone else have the same issue with these new trucks?

Check the search function in the third gen forum, you will find more info on this. I have seen quite a few threads discussing this issue. Also I had a 2003 Tacoma TRD/OR M/t for a long time and it had the same problem in the first few years of ownership. It was probably the only notable issue I ever had on that truck. They ended up having to replace the bushings/clutch pedal assembly.

    all tore up already
clutch squeak yes, rpms burning out my engine... no. curious how going from 4.0 to 3.5 is big money savings? think theres a bit more tech in the 3.5 than 4 liter. good or bad it still up in the air but i cant imagine a 4.0l long block costing more than a 3.5l long block

The 3.5 is more widely shared in the Lexus and Toyota platforms for their cars. Now the Tacoma is sharing. This 3.5 was what they used to put in the Rav4. Now you can't get a V6 in a RAV4 but if you buy the Lexus version its a option. Also the IS250 has the same 3.5. So by getting rid of a platform and sharing another their is a huge cost savings by Toyota. They are doing the same thing American auto makers have been doing for years redressing the same vehicles and the poor consumers don't have a clue.

Yes essentially much of the same rationale for Southwest Airlines flying the same airframe -- all 737s

My clutch pedal started squeaking like a barn door at around 4K miles. The dealerships first attempt to fix it was at my 5k service and it didn't do anything. A week later and I brought it in for the TSB to fix it getting stuck in gear and mentioned the pedal squeak again. They gave it another go and so far so good...

I finally fixed the problem. The plastic clicking popping was coming from the end of the clevis rod on the slave cylinder where it goes into the back of the pedal. This looks like a round ball that sits on the end of the slave cyclinder rod. There is a technical service bulletin that I used the exploded view to identify the exact point of contact. I used a syringe and a long applicator tip/almost like a needle to push Moly 111 silicone grease into the joint. I have no noise and the pedal moves much smoother.

This is the syringe and silicone grease that I injected into the joint circled in the exploded view above.

do you have a pic of this on the truck where its located and did you have to remove the assembly at all or did the syringe extend into it.
