Bought new TRD 2016. Bout week in started making loud tapping at full idle. If I could post video you would have full appreciation. Toyota corporate says its normal. It only happens at norm temp conditions. This is not a fuel injection system. I was told the booster for the brake system runs off a pump driven by cam. They were unable to reproduce the sound out of 3 same trucks on lot. I am asking for a buy back. Last Toyota I'll ever own. Anyone else have this. This is not the normal taco tic. Feedback appreciated. If you would like to hear and see video please send me your e mail. Toyota should own up to this. This vehicle has 5k. Can't wait to get rid of it!!

We need proof of the sound. Get us a video. If you are unhappy with the results of one dealer, go to another, your warranty is valid at any Toyota Dealership. If you have 5k on it and it hasn´t gone boom yet, it may just well be normal. Does it sound like pre-detination (wrong octane gas), or a knock, or a tick (self cleaning cycle). By the way OP, the fact that you made a profile just to post this, kinda makes you look troll like.

I have a 2016 TRD and absolutely love it. I've been driving Toyota trucks for over 30 years and have been through almost every generation going back to the 1970 Hilux I drove in high school. For every person on this forum with a complaint, there are likely 100 more without any. Not saying my 2016 is perfect, but I'm not expecting perfection. I accept it for what it is and am very happy with it.

Maybe I'm deaf, I've never even heard the tick at idle. I'm guessing some are just louder than others.

There are some very smart people on this forum. Post a video of the sound and let some people on here diagnose it. I don't think a buyback is going to happen for you unless there is some material defect in the vehicle. There is a reason Toyota and even furthermore Tacoma owners are repeat customers. It's because the trucks are bulletproof compared to others and will last forever. I am sure it can be frustrating but if you feel it is a real issue, bring your concern back up with the dealer or take it to another for service. It's frustrating but it will get resolved!

The injector cleaner noise does freak me out, I'm almost learning to ignore it.
