Does anyone have any information about the 2016 TSS editions? The only TSS I have seen is the one in this forum, but I am interested if anyone else knows more about what the TSS editions look like.

Wheels, tires, steps, badges, and stickers on an SR5 in the Gulf States region. That's all they've ever been in the past. Check your dealership for price, because they haven't made it Austin yet.

Save your money and get all of that stuff on your own after you buy the truck. The dealers absolutely gouge you on aftermarket upgrades, they generally keystone the pricing which means a 100% mark up over what they paid to do it. I just saw a 2016 with a 3" lift, wheels, tires and side steps...the " package " was $6k.... I don't even feel bad for the person that falls for that...Darwinism.

$3800 for those tires, steps and stickers...let's do some math kiddos

    Crappy rims = $125 each = $600

    BFG Rugged Fails $125 ea = $600

    Weston tube steps = $225

Stickers = why ? $100 for any sticker you want made

That's a grand total of less than $1600 and you don't get to hand pick each part they force feed you some crap and charge you double...triple...more ?

Is the TSS an actual Toyota thing or just a local dealer deal?

I get that, but is it sanctioned by Toyota or is it just an aftermarket thing the dealers do?

I don't know the answer to that but Gulf States Toyota is one of the largest distributors and the TSS is common across all their dealers

yes and no. its not available outside of GST but Toyota lets them create this TSS package. its sanctioned but not backed by Toyota. so If you went to California, they couldn't help you with the extra bits not made/offered by Toyota.

Toyota's in the Gulf States and Hawaii are similar to a cartel so the dealerships are basically a monopoly. If Toyota had only known how successful the auto line would be, those of us in the restricted states would have better options.

Snip> Carroll Shelby, famous racecar driver was approached by Toyota in 1968 about becoming an automobile distributor. According to Shelby,

"I turned it down because I went to Lee Iacocca, and he told me not to take it because the domestic makers were going to push the Japanese back into the ocean."

Shelby told his racing buddy, Tom Friedkin, about Toyota's intentions to sell distributor licenses. Friedkin flew to Japan and convinced Toyota that he had the necessary knowledge and resources.

Gulf States Toyota brought the first Toyota vehicle to Houston, Texas in 1969, when all Toyota vehicles were manufactured in Japan and imported into the US.

So, you're saying it's a Shelby edition Tacoma?
