2016 V6 Engine sound

Quote from a review I just read about the upcoming new Highlander.
Everything about the powertrain oozes smoothness—this V-6 is absolutely imperceptible at idle and inaudible in normal driving. The transmission’s light throttle shifts are perfectly imperceptible, too.


Is this not the same engine as the Tacoma?

Mine sounds like a manual sewing machine from the 1890's.

 

Perhaps they have better sound deadening on the Highlander.

 

There are many differences in the engine, I'd guess at least the injection system, intake, and exhaust are totally different. The sound insulation is also completely different. It's also a different transmission, though also a 6 speed, it's not the same part.
