Installed my Roof rack today on my 2016 Tacoma. I didn’t have a factory roof rack and this unit from Yakima is called a Naked Roof rack. It clips on the inside of your door. And this system can be installed on any vehicle… you just have to have the correct Base Clip attachment.

I may order and install the other roof rack (over the back cab)… but, not sure… I am waiting on Thule to make an adapter for their Truck Bed rack (XSporter Pro 500).

In the picture, my system is:

Yakima Baseline Rack Towers (2 pack $112…. 4 pack $199)
Yakima BaseClips 145 (front Tacoma bar over driver door) ($48)
Yakima RoundBar Crossbars (bought two because 1 for my Trailer Hitch rack) ($72 for two)
    Yakima RoundBar Adapater ($30)

    For my Trailer Hitch Rack:
    Yakima Dry Dock ($229)
Yakima 58” inch RoundBar Crossbar (purchased above)

The gap between my trailer hitch crossbar and roof rack crossbar is roughly 11 feet.

If you wanted to install a Yakima Roof Rack (two Round bars) on your 2016 Tacoma Double Cab, you would need this:

$199 Yakima Baseline Rack Towers (4 pack)
    $48 Yakima BaseClips 145
    $48 Yakima BaseClips 128
    $72 Yakima RoundBar Crossbars (pair)
$30 Yakima RoundBar SL Adapter (pair)
$30 Yakima RoundBar SL Adapter (pair)
    So, TOTAL = $427

But, I get a dealer discount … I know it’s higher than the Factory rack… but, you can put this on any vehicle with the right BaseClips.

Thanks for your post! I primarily use my racks for hauling my kayaks. I have modified my old first gen bed racks to fit my third gen. I bought the baseline mounts, but I needed to move them further back along the front doors then normal to fit my kayaks and rocket launcher. I was curious if any people using the Yakima Baseline towers had any input or could post pics of their setup. Thanks!

How secure are the baseline mounts? Any scuffing of the paint or damage to door rubber?

The base is surprisingly very secure actually! There is absolutely no movement/flex/anything that I can see...even while trying to use my body weight to shake the truck with the roof rack. When you are tightening the rack down, you don't have to worry about over tightening it because Yakima built in special bolts that pop at a preset torq amount (as if you are using a torq wrench).

I have not taken off my Rack since I put it on (so I'm not sure if there are any scuff marks or not), but I am pretty sure that the paint is fine. The rack clamps to the door frame metal (not the rubber door gaskets), so just make sure that you clean the door frames before you install the rack. That will prevent the possiblitiy of any dirt from scuffing the paint over time. Also the rubber that is on the inside of the clamps and on the bottom of the towers are firm and pretty thick to prevent scuffing.

I take my baseline rack off for the winter. I have not noticed any scuffing or damage to the rubber.
