I had a 2017 TRD OR and got rid of it. I didn’t like how it drove. Like the trans was always hunting for the right gear. Has this been improved since? I might be interested in a 2021. What other changes have been recently made from the 17-21? Thanks.

Welcome to the world of 3rd Gen Tacoma’s. There’s a lot of information around OVTune on TW. That, in my opinion, should be your first stop in helping to reduce gear hunting. If you’re not happy after that, a re-gear could be your answer

The answer to your question is, yes. It's all relative, though. Improved doesn't necessarily mean it's how it should be, depending on what your opinion of how it should shift/feel is. Easiest way to find out is to take one on a test drive.

I would test drive a new one to see if it feels better than your old 2017, you can always go MT if the Auto transmission still bothers you.

I have a 2021 and I have driven older 3rd gen Tacomas, so I know what the transmission issues felt like. Toyota fixed it, the gear hunting is no longer an issue with the 2021s. My truck drives as normal as any other automatic out there. I also commute from 1000 ft. elevation to 5500 ft. for work, so if there was a problem still, I’d know.

2018 was the last year to get both rear bed storage units.
2018 was the first year to get tss and radar cruise control.
2019 or 2020 (I think) was the last to get the go pro windshield mount.

test driving and careful examination of physical / accessory changes (since you had a early 3rd gen) is the only way you'll know what suits you.

You got rid of it. Don't get back with an ex, it wasn't working, things don't change that much.

I had a 2017. I now have a 2021. It's the same girl but with power seat, dual zone and adaptative cruze control. Basically a boob job, not enough to get her back if it didn't work out the first time, but nice if it was working out.
