Does anyone know if the 2017 4runner will have a new look? Looking to get my wife a new car soon and was curious. Thanks

Get a good one while it lasts. I have a feeling that when the next redesign comes, the T4R is going to get a disappointment of an engine, just like the Tacoma did.

Would it kill Toyota to just give us something that we want, for once? How many people on TW would kill for a V8?

I'm scared that a redesigned 4Runner will go the way of the Pathfinder. Thats why I'm getting one now.

Yeah they are in different light

I think the general consensus is that when the redesign comes, there will not be another 4Runner. They are going extinct due to mpg regulations.

I'm hoping the fact that it's Prada based will save the T4R. Correct me if I'm wrong (someone will I'm sure) but, aren't the new MPG requirements based on some ratio of the foot print (track & wheelbase) and not a hard & fast number?

As long as it remains body on frame, I'll buy another maybe it'll be hybrid or diesel (yes I said the D). T4R sales have been good in the states recently...not sure about the GX.

There is a requirement where the average MPG as to equal a certain amount like 35 mpg. But it's getting raised. Until now, the Prius has saved the 4Runner and FJ. We know how that worked out for the FJ. The Sequoia is gone now. 4Runner is next

why wouldn't the Land Cruiser be next? That gets just as bad as a Sequoia.

Found it. This is a draft but it's pretty much the actual CAFE agreement. Small footprint = higher MPG needed.

Something I've wondered for a while.

How are the numbers calculated? If the government says Toyota's must average 35 mpg does that mean by models (platforms) available or by units sold?

Like this, if Toyota sells a million cars but they're 3/4 Prius, Yaris, etc does that meet the standard or.....

Say Toyota offers 10 models and averaged together they get over 35 mpg. Is it figured that way?

One way they could offer more fuel efficient models but ebb and flow with the whims of the buying public, one way they are forced to market things nobody may want. I'm sure it's covered in the link but I was too lazy to read it (never mind that I'm scared of random links on websites).

I drove two 3.5 liter Tacoma's today (one manual, one automatic). That engine is totally gutless.

Good news is that the 4Runner is too heavy for Toyota to make the HUGE mistake of giving it the 3.5
