I recently bought a 2017 Access Cab and just today got aftermarket roof racks installed. Since I hadn’t seen much explanation on this specific add-on in these forums previously, I wanted to share exactly what I did and why in case someone else is in the same boat that I just was. Note that there aren’t any racks that Toyota specifically makes for the Access Cab that I know of, only the Extended.

The racks I purchased are Perrycraft SQPM55-B. I was recommended these since I wanted to make sure they would vertically clear the sharkfin antenna. I asked them to install the racks as far away as possible from each other since I plan to transport surfboards and standup paddle boards, some of which are in excess of 11 feet.

Since installation involved drilling I had it professionally done.

The bungee cord you see in the last pic is something I picked up for $3 at Lowe’s since right after install the front bar was generating a howling noise when I hit 30 MPH. The noise went away after the bungee was added.

    Hope this helps.

    Best,

Looks great. Would a wind deflector stop the noise ?

That’s (wind deflector) what the installer suggested after I brought back the truck and told him it was making a noise... I discovered the bungee cord trick through a little Googling/YouTubing... Haven’t priced out wind deflectors yet, but this $3 purchase, although not aesthetically pleasing, will help me keep my sanity until then.

    Heck you'll need bungees anyway.

I have a clamp on Yakima rack on my cab. I made it through one day before heading back to buy the wind deflector.

Get the wind deflector it will not only help with noise but should help MPG too. By the way looks good
