So you're saying that you can have the TRD Skid added to say a TRD OR/Sport? I'm in CA and want to add the skid to the 2017 I'm ordering but assumed I would just have to wait a few months and order it separately from the dealer. It would be great if I could get it on the truck when I order it.

Does anyone know how the accessories (mudflaps, door sill protectors, etc) installation works? Are they installed at the dealership? I've heard mention that they are installed at the port. What does that mean? So Toyota manufactures all these trucks at there factories (Baja/Tx) and then they go to an additional stop (port?) where all the accessories you asked for are installed? Thanks for the help.

Toyota would never "EXIT" the truck market! As for 2016's being a flop, In my findings folks who are happy with there 3rd gens out weighs the problem trucks on TW. I feel for all folks with issues and had a vehicle years ago with issues the manuf had challenges rectifying but they finally did IMO. If the 4.3 gearing is a fix for the 016 AT's I feel the squeaky wheel will get the grease. The folks happy with the gearing "as is" probably out weighs the troubled trucks so don't see this fix as one implemented across the entire 016 AT line. Again, this is coming from over a decade within the auto industry personally so not making wild guesses here.

As a customer who fully anticipated trading my 2014 in for a 2016 I'll take a shot...a 'new' Tacoma that is very similar to the 'old' Tacoma, integrated features that are mostly old news for other trucks on the market, and no shortage of issues despite relatively modest changes to previous model years. I was very excited leading up to the release of the 'new' Tacoma but I am super glad I held off on trying to be one of the first to purchase one. If those who did buy them are happy with their purchase that is great, I have no doubts I wouldn't be happy with the vehicle and I really doubt that my next truck will be a Tacoma.

I tend to agree with your reasoning.

That's great. That also isn't what a flop is. A flop wouldn't be on pace for almost 200k sold for the year.

Right, and McDonalds isn't a flop. It's a massive success.

Sure exactly but doesn't mean the product is "the best" either. Point is, you can't hang your hat on sales numbers alone to gauge the quality of a product.

Where did I say anything about it being the best or not? It was in regards to his comment on it being a flop and the even more absurd fear of Toyota getting out of the truck market when the Tacoma sells like hotcakes.

I think he meant the quality of the product with regard to issues like the transmission issues, driveability complaints, leaf springs, Crankshaft Position Sensors, and rear differentials. Perhaps I misunderstood the context.

Ok which a isn't a flop. A flop would be a product the consumer doesn't want. And again, my point was also in regards to his apparent fear of Toyota leaving the truck market. lol

The third generation Tacoma is selling based on the reputation established under the first two generations. I guess we'll see how things play out over the long-term but I'm seeing other auto makers offering trucks, and more specifically engines, that will likely mark the end of an era for Toyota's run on the mid-size truck market. I have zero brand loyalty and I'm just calling it like I see it.

Zero 'fear' about the markets Toyota chooses to focus on in the future. There are plenty of great options out there to choose from.

I tend to agree, only because it's hard to argue the opposite at this point. We simply don't have enough data to show any other reason for the popularity besides reputation as being the primary driver.

Lmao a flop. Sorry some people got a shitty deal. But this truck is awesome. What other mid size even remotely compares. Ive tried them. They don't.

What features is the tacoma missing that other new trucks have. Only thing I can think of is power seats. Otherwise the tacoma is pretty darn modern look and technology wise.

Sure there is. One, it's a great truck (whether you think its the best or not). It's by far the best looking and arguably the most overall capable.

    I think you're arguing with a Toyota employee/dealer
