In that case, I'm fine with the current gearing. I get decent mileage and I'm fine with the power.

It'll just keep higher rpm's and have better pull. I really don't know how they could change the autos to 4.30 w/o messing up EPA standards. Think of it like this; when you put bigger tires on it takes away power, right? This would be the opposite effect, it would give the truck a little more power, more than likely.

Typically, you want 4.10s for 33" tires, 4.56s for 35" tires and 4.88s for 37" tires. This way, the gears compensate the load of the extra height, so this would have a feel in the pants power difference probably.

I am curious as well...the rear end is now 3.90 or something right? I am guessing going to 4.30 would sacrifice high end for more low end off the line? Just guessing as I have no idea.

But wouldn't that shoot the CAFE standards theory to hell?

You would think so.. but it's not my decision to do it. I'd rather have the 4.3 though personally.

That's why I was wondering. I would think this would hurt the mileage.

There is so much overdrive built into these trucks, 6th gear is pretty much useless, so maybe it will just make 6th a usable gear..?

When I test drove a 16 Mt it had alot of power! So if they switched the 17 to a 3.9 is there going to be a power loss in the Mt and if so why would they do it what would be the benefits of doing so and what will change on 17 compared to the 16 with that gearing.

I'm assuming the power rear window is the same little center section, just moves left to right?

It'd be awesome if it was like the Tundra's.

Seems to be the former. I would have thought it would be easier and more reliable to have to roll up and down, but I'm not an engineer. lol

So the manual will not have as much low end grunt, but the auto will get a boost in low end grunt. Damn I should have waited for the 2017!!!!!!!!!!!

Was it mentioned yet if the TRD's are still going to have the chrome grill?

Worse mileage more power (better use of existing power). Lower gears will raise Rpms at the same speed. With the 3.5 I'd say lower is better.

Same here, but apparently some ppl don't test drive their vehicles and must be buying them online.
It must be the new trend now, buy now complain later about no power??

I hope the next owner bunch reads and learns from their mistake here at TW and test drives the '17 before buying :/

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!
