    Most will use the TechStream. This is a bad idea. The Aisin A60x transmission (6 Speed auto) is very level sensitive, and the level must be checked manually. Mine was checked with the TechStream, and then immediately shown to be 1/2 quart low by a Toyota master tech. There's proof, the TechStream is the WRONG tool for checking fluid.

    Remember that your warranty is from Toyota on a new vehicle, not from the dealer. You can take it to any Toyota dealer for warranty, or non warranty work. They can't deny you service.

    Just bought a 2017 a few days ago and brought it in today with the same complaints everyone else states regarding low ATF. Service Manager just called me back saying the ATF was "unusually low." Kinda bummed I bought a new truck that has to spend an entire day in the shop. :annoyed:

    I'm not really sure either, but I think 2/4's of a Metric Liter... is just about 1/8th of a CDN liter.... I think the CDN liter is just a bit larger than the US quart, but the Imperial gallon is already 1/2 a liter bigger than the US gallon...BUT I'm not sure if that is a "Metric Liter" or a "CDN liter" is what...??

    OK, I'm confused...???? :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

    So.... How hard is it to check tranny fluid ourselves? I gather there's not a dipstick. Searched via iPad but didn't see a clear / succinct answer, sorry if I missed it.

    That's exactly what worked for me. Took it to a different dealer and they fixed me right up. Won me over for any other warranty and service. ;)

    They CAN deny you service. Just like you said. It's warrantied from Toyota. Almost every dealer has told atleast 1 customer to take a hike. In large volume dealerships this happens more often. A lot of customers are a pain in the ass. While you deal with them the best you can, there are a few that you'll never satisfy, that get out of control, are completely unreasonable or you just plain an simple do not want to deal with anymore. I've seen a few get walked out and told to never come back. They have every right to deny them. They simply tell them to visit another Dealer. Sure you might get a call from the corporate offices of a manufacture but you just explain to them the situation and that's it.

    Just bought a 2017 trd sport. What issues/symptoms should I be looking out for that might be linked to low ATF? I have about 800 miles so far ans I haven't noticed anything unusual. Wondering if dealership will check ATF level if I'm not experiencing anything weird.

    Your levels are fine.. seems to just be some confusion amongst dealers on how to check levels in these new, sealed transmissions.

    This fuckin craziness will not die!

    When they check via Techstream, I'm pretty sure they're checking the Fluid Degradation Value; not capacity per se.

    I installed 2 go pros on my truck before I asked them to check my ATF and had them running the whole time it was in the shop. One inside the truck pointed at the driver and one under the hood. Just to keep them honest. Wanted to make sure they actually did check it. They hooked there little computer up to. That's all. No actual physical check.
