Limp Mode as mentioned earlier in this thread is designed to prevent further damage . This is an excellent feature that has been around since the late 90,s
In the OP,s case , the computer in his truck saw a " glitch " and prevented the transmission from selecting the overdrive gears .
I would also be interested to see the work order . If there is truly something going on with the transmission , its better to catch it now rather than wait for more serious side effects .
I am in for the rest of the story . In my opinion , a " Glitch " is not a word associated with transmission diagnostics . I wouldnt accept this as an answer to the problem .
    What codes were set ?
Are you interested to find out whats been done to your truck while it was on warranty or another owner ?
Type in your VIN # and see what,s been done to your truck at the dealership

I would open a case so the next time it "glitches" I don't have to worry about the new dealer just using the same excuses that my old dealer did. Because no way in hell am I going back to the dealer that passed the buck the first time. It's about creating a paper trail and creating accountability.
Simply being told it's a glitch and saying ok then walking away will not fix the problem.

You have very high expectations. That's expecting all mechanical and computer parts to work 100%, just not going to happen.

Not expecting to get stranded on the side of the road in a 2-3 year old vehicle is not having high expectations.

I was just pointing out that you expect all vehicles to never have any issue that requires a tow. No one should expect to have to be towed in a new vehicles, but I also don't think any one can expect all the mechanical and computer parts to work 100%. I believe shit happens, just don't step in it. It's when a auto company leaves you high and dry that concerns me. So far Toyota has proven themselves to me.

The Ecoboost is so reliable it got the nickname ecoburst. It's staggering the amount of ecoboost engine's that fail very early. Toyota had issues with the beginning model run, but I'll take their reliability over ford ten times over.

It was bad enough that people were bashing the OP for the total cost of his Taco, but @taco pops has gone and pissed off the car gods and members of Tacoma World with his wisdom regarding transmissions.

I’m hopeful the OP returns to share anything else he learns about the issue as well as how things have gone with his truck since.

Since this is my thread, I'm taking it off topic: Why is "OP" next to my forum handle "Romy"?

It's because you're over powered. Or maybe it's for original poster.

"Shows code for pressure control solenoid"

Did they give you any info on which codes were present before the tech "cleared them" ?
