I’m trying to remove the exhaust tip off of my truck. I got the clamp removed snd now I’m working on the rest. I plan on using PB Blaster and hammering away at it with a flat head. From the pictures, is this the best way to go about it? I'm not sure if the ring on the back is part of the exhaust or the tip itself. Any help is appreciated.

It's probably corroded together, a shop would torch it off in a few seconds. You could hammer the fork out if it with a chisel, up those slits, until you have it in pieces.

The ring is separate from the tip. The ring is a 2 price bracket that the tip clamps around right before the actual exhaust pip flares out. You may have hit it to where the bracket it wedged up against where the exhaust pipe flares. Try tapping on the ring with a screw driver and mallet, hit the ring towards the inside of the vehicle if that makes sense.

Those tips are a pain to get them off.
From what I have read those split shims are tapered but I am not 100% sure because I was unable to remove mine.

I ended up using scotch bright to scuff it up and just painted it flat black while on the truck.

Nothing a Dremel can't get off. If you don't care about the tip I'd go that route

Ah, that makes sense thanks. I'm going to pull mine off too before I smash it into the bed on a rock.

My 2020 came with a chrome one and I swapped to the black one. It was a real pain in the ass getting the chrome one off. Took way longer then I thought I would have.
