    Thanks for the convo.
Definitely don’t have money to burn. I simply don’t have a lot of time to take the truck different places or search for a trustworthy transmission shop. $5000 isn’t cheap but it’s affordable. Maybe I’ve been desensitized over many years of paying the Porsche tax. Thank goodness I have a great independent mechanic.

On second thought, have the dealer replace it w a brand new one, and purchase a spare transmission, just in case.

Not sure I understand the question. I regularly park it at the airport.

i knew a few guys who had their "airport parking lot porsche" just curious if you were one of them. I go to the airport a few times a month and notice a decent amount of european sports cars parked there.

they just want to feel better about their decision. although, i think the consensus is take it to a tranny shop but OP just wants to buy a new transmission. IDK why they didn't do that then.

Dealer just called. Truck is ready.

I didn’t ask for advice. I asked two questions:
    1. Anyone with similar experience?
    2. Is it really this binary with Toyota - flush or swap?

I appreciate the constructive TC and solenoid callouts. Also, the mention of gears, weight and tires adding additional wear and requiring more frequent changes. I’ll shoot for 45K intervals.

Would a transmission specialist been have been cheaper? maybe. But I would have spent the better part of next week trying to find someone, likely an hour away, probably not able to get me in right away, and likely a few weeks before I had my truck back.

$5000 OEM transmission, installed w/ a 12-month warranty was an easy choice. I decided to:
    1. Pay for convenience. I’m very fortunate to be in a position where I can do this.
    2. Support my local dealer service center. I live in a small town and they are good to me and service our other non-Toyota vehicles.

Nope. It’s the biggest ripoff. I change it myself every 5,000 miles.
