Congrats to Lewis on matching Michael but that nose ring he had in the post quali interviews makes him look like a real ass.

 

I really hope Ferrari finally dethrones the Silver Arrows this season. I know Mercedes has been better than the pack since Lewis came on board but I hope Vettel and Ferrari come out on top this year. I hope Fernando Alonso gets a better car next year, maybe a different team. Charles Leclerc deserves a seat in Formula 1, that drive he did on Formula 2 coming in 4th starting from 22nd on the grid is absolutely epic. In a few years he will be champion of the world in F1.

 

So Alonso's ERS computer was "confused" about where he was on track after the tow from Vandoorne and taking Pouhon flat out and did not deploy any electrical energy on his Q2 lap

Maybe they should switch to Hyundai. They seem more reliable these days.

 

This wasn't really a power unit failure per se but yeah not that promising

So next year maybe Alonso at Williams in Massa's seat

Force India drivers no longer free to race each other

 

It might have lacked visual drama but those were two very fine drives at the front. Daniel's jump at the restart was brilliant too. Force India should open up at least one seat next year; for me it's a tossup as to which. They're both talented, both impetuous. One of them should know better by now.

I was thinking the same thing about Alonso when he dropped out -- he is *so* over McLaren, so maybe Williams next year. He would be very interesting there, and Massa could finally really retire. The other thought I had was that he goes back to Renault, whom I suspect will continue to get faster and could be a real presence next year. Might be the smarter move if there's a seat.

 

I think the most likely scenario is Alonso at McLaren next year with McLaren running Renault power till 2020

I'm not sure what to make of that. Did Alonso just quit the race? Did the team pull him due to poor performance of the car to save the miles on the power train? Honda apparently has no idea what is going on. They chose not to run the new spec engines for some reason.

Did you catch Alonso's post race? He seemed to make it clear something is going to change before next season. I'm not sure a move to Williams or Renault will really be much better. The Renault *might* be better next year, but still not on par with the top 2. Williams just doesn't have the aero to be at the top, I think the Mclaren is the best chassis of the 3.

Red Bull is really in the best position to be best of the rest next year, they have the aero and if Renault improves the power it will be more competitive.

 

I think Alonso got sick of being passed by everybody and after asking if there was any chance of rain (which would be his only hope of moving up the grid) said fuck it and came in on his own accord , citing an engine issue

The engine issue was that it is s Honda engine

I wouldn't be surprised if there is another "engine problem" on Alonso's car at Monza

 

Its sad to see him at Honda. Its like watching a roller coaster every race. Does decent in practice and quali then does shit in race.
