On Saturday night Toro Rosso said Daniil Kvyat would be recalled for Austin, replacing Carlos Sainz, alongside Gasly. But that would mean Gasly missing the opportunity to win the Super Formula title at Suzuka on the same weekend, he is like a couple of points out of the lead. For a while I thought Kubica was going to get the Renault seat from Palmer, I was wrong.
I’m really bummed out about Ferrari, I was hoping to see a fight for the championship between Vettel, and Hamilton in Texas. But like the other three times I’ve been to the US GP (2012, 14, 15) it looks like Hamilton is going to win . I don’t even want to go now..

 

A couple more laps and Lewis may have been forced to retire, possibly saved by all the VSC's laps.Traffic was definitely playing in his favor too.

I can't figure out what is going on at Ferrari. First half of the season brilliant, second half disastrous. Did they push too hard for power at the cost of reliability? I wouldn't think so because they finish races when they start them. Look at Kimi today for example, and Seb last weekend. Is the garage getting sloppy? Is the pressure turned up too high and the team is showing cracks? Not sure. I do wish they'd figure it out though.

Red Bull on the other hand is really coming good as the season progresses. I think that if they had equal HP both MB and Ferrari would be chasing them at this point in the season.

Spark plugs were supplied by a sub contractor

 

I have done a lot of nuke and chemical demilitarization work. Nothing is the fault of a subcontractor. You QA and QC the sub, QC everything that comes from the sub, and you QC the actual installation. With the millions of dollars it takes to run an F1 team I'm sure they have similar programs and processes in place. If they don't they are fools.

Agreed, I work for Boeing and used to be on the 787 program that was about 4 years behind schedule. Most of it was due to their plan to offload a majority of the work to suppliers who couldn't come through. Even though most of the deficiencies were on the suppliers at the end of the day the side of the plane says Boeing just the same as it says Ferrari on the side of the car and it is all on them for their choice of suppliers and how if affects the end product.

 

I don't need to tell him that. He knows it as do his bosses.

“You see any mistake done by the team?” That depends. What did he do to prevent that from happening in the first place? Ferrari spends nearly $400M per year on that team. $400M. The buck stops with him.

 

Blaming suppliers isn't going to fix anything.

 

I think there is more to this "spark plug" issue than they are letting on. I read something about possibly a bad coil pack. I wonder if it was an issue with the jet ignition or something. I don't think you can just change a spark plug anymore. I wonder if Ferarri has the ability to bench test the jet unit (injector, spark plug, coil/ignition)

Ehhh we do the same. Sub's do their own QA, we QA upon receiving, do testing prior to install, QA after install, testing after install, and still have parts that fail during first startup or after short periods of time. But with our parts theres backups to everything so if it fails its not the end of the world and it just gets fixed soon after.
