Faster but less overtaking is the concern from drivers?

 

The cars will actually be slower in a straight line

Faster cornering speeds , slower straight line top speeds

 

But nascar fans do have problems, they can't use Tinder cuz they can't swipe right.

 

As a longtime stock car fan and blessed to be born in God's country, I'd say the opposite is part of the fix needed for stock car racing. Higher contrast of straight line to corner speeds. Faster straights and slower turns. Scrubbing 25-30mph off the current cornering speeds would allow for more passing. The way to do this is make the tires skinnier and probably bias ply, reduce the spoiler (check), eliminate ground effects (front air dam and side skirts), and raise the cars up off the track. They need air underneath. They need to open up the rules and let teams "innovate."

But anyway, back to F1...

 

I just picture this being said by the new American driver on Grand Tour, "Them cars aren't even V8s, how can that be a race car"
