I just replaced the original front brakes on my 2017 TRD Sport at 54,000 miles. I used the
AC Delco 17D976M pads and 18A2650AC rotors.

When I test-drove it and bedded the brakes, I heard a slight dragging sound on the driver side. It seems to come up when I brake very lightly, and goes away when I brake harder.

Did I miss a step as far as lubricating something or whatever? The only thing I can think of that I might have done wrong is I didn't put the two shims back in that were behind each original pad because the new pads had a backing plate built in. This is the first time I've worked on a car with fixed calipers so I realized there were no usual caliper pins for me to lubricate.

Or might this be something that will go away as the brakes settle in?

Did you lubricate and how’s the hardware?

You didn’t clean the rust scale where the metal parts of the pads contact the caliper...the pads should slide freely with little drag back and forth before you put the pins in.
