I recently got a 2017 SR5 dcsb and previously had a 2014 Corolla. The gas pedal in the Tacoma is 2-3 times harder to press than the corolla and the same when compared with my wife’s Ford Escape. It is difficult to accelerate smoothly because of this. Is this normal? Truck has 4500 miles.

Haha, started playing guitar because of the band. Also use the 5150 amp that he made with peavey.

Go to a Toyota dealership and tell them you want to test drive a Tacoma....jump in a couple others and find out?

I was thinking of checking other ones. I was just curious if anyone else noticed this. I’ve driven ford, Chevy and Ram 1/2 tons and all were similar to my old corolla.

I think it's normal. If you want the pedal to feel softer, press the Ect button and it will feel easier to press. Noticed this during test drive . I guess Toyota engineered this to help with mpg ( discourage heavy foot on gas hehe )

I never noticed the ECT button affecting how the pedal physically felt (the way it feels when you push it with the engine turned off), but it does change how the motor reacts, making it "easier" to get a response, but give it some time, I think both of you are getting used to each other still. My new TRD definitely felt harder to push than the mechanically activated pedal on my 2002, but I'm at 7500 miles now and it feels normal. If you are still concerned, bring it for your 5000 mile maintenance a bit early for a check. One thing Toyota will say to you about it if you do call is for you to bring it in immediately so they can check the floor mat placement.

My wife's 14 Corolla is way toooo easy to press. I don't drive it often, but when I do, I find it real easy....to the point of making it a "jerky" ride....

    Normal..!

While driving, press the Ect button and press on the pedal. You'll definitely notice it. Easier to press on the pedal if the Ect is on while driving . Harder to press if off.

    With ECT On

Just a suggestion- I wouldn't get used to using the ECT button while driving normally without a load, I use it a lot for towing, but it sucks more gas when used than without.

This is funny your complaining about this, i experienced the same. The first several months I hated the gas pedal in my truck. There was a vibration and I could not get my foot comfortable on the pedal because it was hard to press. The pedal was like a tuning fork pressed into my foot. Between this and the howling rear diff I hated the truck. 8 months later and i never think about the gas pedal. It must of gotten easier to press down on over time.

When they toured with Journey in the earlier David Lee Roth days I wanted to go see them bad, but mom and pops wouldn't let me go LOL.

Even my youth church group went to that concert...:anonymous:

After seeing the 5150 concert I saw David Lee Roth on tour the same year. Cinderella opened up for them. Great show.

    Steve Vai on guitar...WOW!
