I was watching via NASCAR Drive site. I was switching between sky cam and battle cam. There was a ton of awesome racing back in the pack all day. GREAT use of that wide turn 1. Used to be, Texas was so tight and fast, the only place to pass slower traffic was the dogleg. Today, there were slipping and sliding all over the T1 entry like they used to do at Rockingham back in the day.

I didn't like how it only started to click late in the race... Needs to be like that for all 500miles

Look up Jason Jacoby on YouTube. Local iRacer with a sick, homebuilt rig. He posts videos covering his equipment and quickly answers questions.

I mean could I do it with my laptop, the $300 steering wheel, and get a chord to make a TV screen the screen to my laptop or do I need a PC?

$66 a year membership + steering wheel cost isn't too bad

I'll have to check it out... I don't have much room to put all the stuff if he's got the full ordeal

You'll need more than a steering wheel and a membership.

You'll need a current gen PC or mac, computer monitor that runs 120 fps with great internet to reduce input lag (bigger the better for good field of vision And being able to catch the apex of a turn better); getting in a league is best and they have their own membership fees or else you'll be racing trolls that constantly wreck everyone; you have to buy cars and tracks to race with and on, decent steering wheel and pedals, etc. It gets expensive. Playing with and against the bare minimum will frustrate the hell out of you and you won't learn anything

Membership fee says it's 15 tracks and 15 cars with membership? Also I read about the crash rating, and I thought they banned people for wrecking others too much... Yeah I'd need to upgrade the internet here or use my GFS houses'. How do you test if a computer is up to par? I have a Lenova yoga...

I wonder if they give you technical tracks or ovals, anyway, I don't know a whole lot about it other than when I was looking into it several years ago, so I imagine it's made some progressions. I'd suggest becoming a member and joining their forums to ask questions. I'm sure there are some elitist and that they will say you ha e to have the best equipment but there are those that give fairly accurate reviews on equipment so you can pick the best for you and learn the most you can about it before jumping in.

I've been googling all over the place... The $300 steering wheel combo looks like it's what I'd need... They say a laptop can work, but they recommend a bigger screen...

You'd probably have to update the graphics card in your laptop, you could get a great monitor to hook up to your pc that runs 120 fps for probably $300-350

Have tire options been bad for F1? I think F1 pit stops are more exciting because 1) They pit almost exclusively on green flag runs so, 2) Timing of pit is critical and 3) Tire strategy in F1 is one of the most exciting aspects for me. Tire strategy USED to be important in Cup until they went to rock hard tires. Hard tires, coupled with the era of aero-dependency made for some of the most boring years of my NASCAR viewing.

And as you know, I'm a big fan of soft tires and tire management. I like the strategy of saving the car for the right moment rather than driving all-out every single lap. While fans enjoy the intensity peaks of NASCAR, the lulls are vital for the drivers in order to have the wherewithal to execute those daring moves we've come to love.

Anybody* can just gas & go, but I like the mind games involved in making strategic moves on and off track. The common term for the guys who do use strategy is "Wheel Man." I like Wheel Men. We need more of them in the sport.
