Every series should be on TV, or an internet subscription service NASCAR should offer that is affordable...

Well said! I agree about Larson. That was entertaining on Sunday, couldn't even get my nap in! :D

Larson is one of the few if only "top" drivers who still races anything and everything on the side during the season, like Tony did. Too bad he doesn't have a similar personality, which is what NASCAR will truly be without next year.

Yeah, I really miss What Tony brings to the sport. I remember when he first came into NASCAR, and how quickly he adapted to the size and weight of those cars. I knew he came from a circle/oval track background, but he proved pretty quickly that he could get around a road course as well.

The fact that he drove just about any kind of car was something that no one else in his generation was doing. Even Earnhardt, who I think had the same kind of relentless drive to win, never stepped outside NASCAR to drive another kind of car. I think you have to go back to A.J. Foyt to find someone who was as versatile...and he even had the same kind of personality as Tony. Yeah, NASCAR needs another Tony Stewart.

As NASCAR moves toward F1's pay to drive system, the gruff, un-moneyed fellows will fall by the wayside. The future is more Jon-Wes Townleys and Brendan Gaughans. Guys driving on family money assuming roles and marketing personas such as "The Outlaw" (Kurt Busch), "Rowdy" (Kyle Busch), etc. Thin veneers that imply personality but lack the true depth of the drivers of yesteryear. NASCAR isn't dead, it's just evolving with the times into something irrelevant to the every man. Thankfully, we have short tracks and dirt tracks. The best competition is not on TV.

Here's the last lap of a recent Late Model race I attended. These guys battled side by side for most of the 50 lap event. Go support this stuff! There were 7 races for $12 general admission, cheap concessions, and plenty of seating room to spread out.

Rowdy still races the local tracks whenever he can. Larson still does too, Erik Jones, Tony Stewart, Christopher Bell, and others are some more bigger names to do it. Itd be nice if the schedule fit better for them to be able to drive local more. Daddy Money dont mean shit in the crate late model division though... too close to the equipment being the same for money to be able to outperform talent in that division (love to get into crate late models for that reason.). But yeah the amount of local racing has my eyes set towards moving to NC as a possibility when i graduate. When i was at Hickory, the stands were FULL. Speedfest in Cordele had a lot of people, but not that many! people actually like racing in NC.

Maybe. I have to survive this week and next with final exams and two 20+ page research papers. Wife has to approve. We're going to Kentucky this weekend for a funeral. We'll discuss it on the trip. I won't have time to go to any CUP races this Fall or next Spring due to student teaching.

More than anything I'm watching the weather. I HATE rain delays, especially with a kid.

Well maybe not the attitude, he was a bit more laid back and let his driving do the talking, but there is this Italian guy from PA named Mario. Sprint cars to Trophy Trucks that guy is one of my racing heroes.

Alright, I want to see who is interested in starting a #tacomaworld fantasy race type deal. Been wanting to do this for a while so here it is:

$10 entry fee for the year starting after the all star race, you have to paypal me before the coca cola 600 to be included.

You can pick one driver for each race and you will email me that pick before the green flag or you will receive automatic 80 points, any driver can be picked. Catch is, once you pick that driver, you can no longer pick that driver for the rest of the year.

    Scoring:
if your driver finishes 1st you get 1 point, 2nd 2 points, 3rd 3 points, etc. Winner at end of season will have lowest point total.
If you dont make a pick one week, you get slammed with 80 points. If you pick a duplicate driver, you get 80 points, no exceptions! This ensures everyone is paying attention, penalties are harsh! So I'll send out a recap before and after every race with point totals.

    Bonus:
Person with most number 1's this season gets a payout.

    Payouts:

Will be determined by number of people entering/paid up and will be laid out before coke 600.

    Any questions let me know.

Pm me if you are interested I would like at least 5-10 people to play and I will update as we go along!

Perhaps, every pick 3 drivers, a point per spot, most points win... Everyone gets to pick their ONE favorite by default (y'all don't all have the same one so for us it works) and no 2 the same... Most points wins? We could do it draft style, everyone posts picks in order on here at a specified time.... Then your locked in.

I chose 1 driver per pick per year simply for me to be able to manage it the best and plus it's much more difficult this way meaning knowledge of driver and track will get you farther., do you want to keep up with 3 picks per race for the next 26 races? If so, have at it.

Gotcha, that's too easy honestly, and you would see multi duplicates making tie breakers a headache. I like having to pick a different driver each race for multiple reasons. 1. It's easier for me to keep track of 2. Everyone can follow someone they are not used to following and make the race more intriguing for each individual 3. More margin of error with each race, much like our drivers have to deal with every week 4. You have to actually kind of know your shit 5. You can still pull for your fav driver but have someone else to pull for as well with not much into it
