Chevy SS is dead since GM is ending production in Australia. Easily the most (ONLY) badass street version of anything racing in Cup. Too bad it never came with a manual transmission. Anyway, look for the Malibu nameplate to return to Cup in '18, seeing as how Chevy has nothing in the pipeline to replace the SS/Impala/ Whatever plastic crappy sedan they have.

I know sedans are part of the history of Cup, but COME ON, the full size sedan market is D E A D, much like the "Luxury Coupe" market died in the '80s. Manufacturers need to either produce a legit product that can win on Sunday and sell on Monday or give up and run the Xfinity badges (Challenger, Camaro, Mustang, groan... Camry) on Sunday with smaller cars.
Fullsize pickups are #1. Might as well make the trucks the premier series on Sunday running F150, Ram, Tundra, Silverado and make the Saturday races midsize trucks: Ranger, Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma, Frontier. Let the Pony cars be support races.

I was just reading this story and was going to post up.

No flipping way. Actually I am not surprised.

 

Wow. It's on Jayski as well. I bet JGR is PISSED after putting out all the $ for the second FRR car with Erik Jones. I was never an Edwards fan, but he brought some much needed enthusiasm to the sport, and was one of the few remaining "Every Man" drivers who worked his way into the sport(while supporting himself as a substitute teacher during the week). This should quell the Kenseth retirement rumors for a bit.

 

I like Carl, not his biggest fan, the wife is a huge fan, but I've always like that he was a clean racer. I don't think JGR booted him out of his contract. I'm thinking that Carl is breaking it to do some other endeavor. We're talking a championship caliber driver and I'm sure anyone would be thrilled to have Carl in their camp. Maybe F1 or something? I just can't imagine him doing anything but NASCAR. Makes me wonder what cousin Kenny Schrader knows.

The politics, him being one to not say much, just might be sick of bitting his tongue. Maybe sick of being second fiddle, not getting the best on the team? Something happened, I mean come on, he could have just rode around and made a fortune.
