it sure would help to put them on TV.... speed51 is ridiculous on price, and F1 is on when everyone in the US is asleep....

 

There's where the McDonalds comparison comes in. While wonky, the NASCAR TV package is readily available to most anybody, whereas the other regional series don't have that kind of sway. Like good BBQ, you have to go out of your way, to places like Speed51, where the cost is more, but the quality surpasses standard drive-thru fare.

It'd be nice if local networks would pick up coverage of regional events. Unfortunately, local TV station consolidation has made that impossible. This is why we need a SPEED Channel or TNN. They covered regional events on the regular. All the regional touring series have their heroes. NASCAR started to gobble them up in the '70s and '80s. Trickle, Kulwicki, Wallace, Martin, Johnson all rose from ASA. Bonnett, Waltrip and many others ran regional series like ASA. I grew up watching Bob Senneker and Mike Eddy battle it out in ASA. Gosh I wish that series was still around. They ripped it up with full car counts on bullrings all over the country. ARCA is kind of meh these days. Thankfully we have CRA, CARS Tour, and PASS. Each series has its own heroes and they put on a heck of a show. NASCAR teams have their fingers deep into each series, so money is the name of the game everywhere.

tl:dr Big Business ruins everything that is good.

I've been contemplating Hickory too, but I'm getting a vasectomy Friday, so I'm out for the weekend.

 

Hmm, I say the race is a better choice.
