this is big news for next year:

"Starting next season, NASCAR Cup teams will have to use 13 engines during the year for two full race weekends -- the engines will be sealed so between races they can't tamper with the engine block, crankshaft, camshaft, connecting rods and pistons. Also, engines used at Talladega in October will be sealed and must be used again in the preseason race at Daytona next February."

I had a need for speed. Luckily there's a race at Anderson tonight. Some of the throwback schemes are here from Hickory a couple weeks ago. Gonna be a good race with David Roberts, Cody Haskins, and Trey Gibson in the field.

Y'all ever wonder what a ‘70s Chevy Laguna with '80s Monte Carlo front and rear clips painted like a '90s Lumina from a movie looks like? Well here ya’ go. I present to you The Car of Yesterday:

    http://www.theonion.com/article/nascar-unveils-new-car-of-yesterday-2174

"This is exactly what everyone from race teams to race fans wanted all along—a real American race car," said Robby Gordon, standing in front of the Jim Beam '77 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme he will drive for the rest of the season. "To hell with things like spoilers, adjustable suspensions, disc brakes, shoulder belts, all that junk. People want to see us racing the cars they drive every day, and anyone who's seen the parking lot at a NASCAR race will tell you that's what the Car of Yesterday gives them."

Nascar is a joke with these late race cautions...

Well dang. Two weeks in a row I watch the race, and two weeks in a row Truex winds up in the wall on the last lap after dominating. I'm going to have to stop watching races.

I hope Derrick Cope's sponsor paid big $ for that ideal TV time.

I know Nascar and everyone likes a exciting finish and there are lots of races that end up that way on there own.BUT I hate when Nascar tries to force it,that just takes away from the integrity of the race. It's all about tv ratings I guess...

I agree. I didn't like how it ended. I wanted a caution in the waning laps last week. I seem to remember somebody had gotten into the wall, cut a tire, was down on the apron, and NASCAR didn't throw one. They've done a better job this year. Tonight was just too sweet a moment not to pass up a potential upset (which they got). Sucks for Truex, but that's been his luck his entire career, tbh. I was rooting for him (the only Toyota driver I like), but Larson winning isn't a bad thing (He's my Chevy driver). At least Hamlin didn't take the win again. I'm glad Blaney got the Wood Brothers into the playoffs. They need all the playoff purse money they can get heading into next season. I don't see any more wins coming their way when Blaney leaves.

Truex is starting to be an asshole. He's talking that Cope shouldn't even be out there... Guess what, in the words of @MadDaddy that's racing. Not everyone has top tier equipment, and Nascar can't even fill the field, so if a guy wants to race, let him race.

Sounded like he was just pissed because they screwed him with another bullshit caution.

Hell he should be pissed tires were god at that race... If tires didn't matter, and they could track each other down like that, it'd be a hell of a race...

It was a snorer for sure. We fell asleep during the second segment. I woke for the final fifty laps.
