I think NASCAR fans are in agreement that the TV package is broken and has been for a long time. The solution is to go to races. LOTS of them. Not just NASCAR. TV is not and will never be the be all, end all. With modern tools like Twitter and Reddit, fans and drivers can connect more intimately than TV could ever provide. Youtube and NASCAR Drive offer online streaming of races while MRN and PRN give the best on-air play by play. I cut cable nearly five years ago. Not coincidentally, I started going to more races. Saving $50 a month means I have $50 to put towards going to a race. This year I went to Daytona, Atlanta, Charlotte, Anderson, Shiloh, and will be headed to Talladega next month. I'm a fan yet I've only watched one race on TV this year.

I steal my parents cable via laptop just for races. Me and my uncle don't have cable at the house. I been to AMS, watermelon speedway, hickory (x2), senoia raceway, Talladega, and have one more Talladega and possibly a trip to either Dixie or Rome speedway set for this year... Wish there was a local short track for late models within 30mins of the house, but no such luck...

Martin Truex beat a cheated up race car (#24) by 7 seconds last week. Makes you wonder what that #78 team is doing to their car. Cole Pearn might be the new Chad Knauss but BETTER, because he hasn't been caught.

How severe will the penalty be for intentionally bringing out the caution

So y'all didn't see Rowdy win or what? Despite all that, I hope Kahne gets docked big time. That was some real bullshit to intentionally bring out a caution in a playoff race. We seen Stenhouse get lucky as hell. Bad luck for Kurt and Harvick. To be honest I see the 3 getting a present later on this season...

A few additions to make me feel cool.
They could doc all of the 5s points and it wouldn't matter. Toyota has the field covered this year and I think everyone has accepted it. Lame duck year for the bowties and Ford is behind everywhere as always. I would not sleep on the 42 though! If the 78 was not taken out the 18 would have ended the day being a prick because he lost though. Truex pretty much has to stop showing up to lose this championship. All he will have to do in homestead is finish top 20.

But only Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex have been winning races for Toyota... Arguably the top 3 drivers all year are Truex Busch and Larson... So 2 of the top 3 are Toyotas. At the start of the year, it looked like it was Ford's year, it shifts back and forth. Perhaps with a different aero package, you'll see more people up front

This is because they are the best Toyota drivers, ahead of Kenseth (in the twilight of his career, but) bringing in 8 top 5s, and 14 top 10s this season, and two promising rookies who combined, earned five top 5s, and 22 top 10s in 27 events thus far. I don't count BK racing, because they don't get their stuff from TRD.
The competition is insanely tight among the top 22 teams in NASCAR. Give or take a stroke of luck and any of those guys could win on Sunday. The parity is similar to the SEC. Nearly every team can jump up on Saturday and bite the big dawg for a W.

I see the old guard yelling (on the internet) about Toyota cheating or having NASCAR in their pocket, which isn't true. None of the major sponsors of other teams would continue their involvement if one sponsor got more favorable treatment. Toyota has seen exponential growth and profits over the past thirty years. Meanwhile, American auto companies have had to tighten the belts. Toyota simply has deeper pockets. I wouldn't be surprised if Ford dropped out within the next twenty years or switched to Indycar as a worthy R&D and advertising investment. They could take it and make it their own proving ground while still challenging Chevy and getting at Honda while saving face by not competing against Toyota. Nobody can take down Toyota right now, or for the foreseeable future.
