jr is the most over rated driver in the past 40 years

 

Welcome to the convo. I haven't been around for forty years, and have only followed NASCAR closely since 1991, but I'd say several others rank higher on media/industry hype vs. on-track performance than Jr. Dale has nearly 30 wins, which is tenfold more than most other Cup drivers. Casey Atwood is the first to come to mind, followed by a host of young guys with parent's money behind them. In the '90s, there was a David Green, Mike Skinner. My viewership and attendance dropped off in the aughts. The past seven years had A bunch of truck to Grand National "phenoms" who never graduated too. Dale didn't drive like his daddy. For this, I respect him as a driver and competitor. Yesterday's tweet make him even better of a human being, IMO. I'll miss him on track, but I'm proud that he didn't let this sport control and own him until his dying breath.

Yep, very good thread, but didn't need that thread to see those numbers, been watching it play out since NASCAR enforced that rule, and here we are. I bet 4 toyotas make the final race this year.

 

What makes you think he is over rated? The fact that most people in the sport like him and he is very popular? Or who is dad is? I think he has been exactly what he has always been, a hall of famer on and off the track. Thats not being overrated dumbass.
