NASCAR's new "Participation Ribbon" points system. JFC. They overhauled the points system to tighten things up and now they keep tweaking it to spread it back out. Mathematically (but damn near impossibly), a driver could be UP 197 points on everyone else when they reset for the Chase. This is some convoluted bullshit that doesn't make the sport any easier to understand to new fans or outsiders.

I have a buddy who works for TH Motorsports.... Let me know if they get a card as full as speedfest that is worth camping for (around $100 for qualifying, race tickets and tent camping for 2 is the price range.)

all for television dollars I bet. Nascar realizes we don't want to go to a commercial break every 3 minutes and that the little live action box during the commercials doesn't cut it.

Now we get less commercial breaks, only longer. There will be 10 minute breaks between segments so teams can make adjustments to their cars. One new rule for this year is that teams can NOT replace body panels during the race. Per Bob Pockrass: If you have to go to the garage for extensive repairs, you are parked for the duration of the race. No more coming back out and turning laps at a slower pace for points.

Yea I think this is the last straw for me.
This is not how racing is suppose to be with cookie cutter cars and cookie cutter drivers that always get the "detriment to stock car racing " bull. Oh we're going to stop the races now. The only reason to do this is to get more crashing and banging. Of course the drivers like it. They can't say otherwise.
I don't ever remember seeing a survey or question pole so I don't see how they know what the "fan" wants. Been watching NASCAR since the first race on tv.
Keep changing the rules. Keep taking seats out of the tracks so it looks like the stands are full.
Keep throwing cautions to tighten the field. Delay cautions with car parts on the track until someone makes a great move then set him back with the caution.
Your racing is now more of a joke than ever.

Well they could just clone Brad Keselewzer and completely run the races exactly how they want to. At least I'd get a full nap in! :fingerscrossed:

That and what puts me to sleep is caution laps in person and commercials (it's always the same 5 on TV every race)...

Here's a lap of the road course back in 2012. Last time I was there ('15), they'd repaved the course but hadn't added the wider rumble strips and runoff areas. They were supposed to make an announcement in '15 regarding he road course, but nothing came of it. I think it'd make a great race. That transition to T1 banking will be brutal on the Cup cars. Most of the footage I've seen of SCCA cars running this course, has them doing around 125-135mph in turn 3/4. The Cup cars would be doing nearly 170 coming on the dogleg and breaking HARD for that tight left-hander. This layout is very similar to the Daytona road course layout, but more compact. I like the elevation change where the old sinkhole was in the infield.

Here's the Atlanta road course. I've driven it, but never at speed. Took my Taco through it actually . It's less technical, but a higher speed course:

I vote for the Atlanta road course over Charlotte.... They get 2 races already, no need for them to get a 3rd...

They're talking about changing the Fall race to a road course because so many fans want one in the Chase. By the way, the term "CHASE" is now dead. They're simply referring to it as "the playoff" now.

If you're rich you can buy a Roush Xfinity Mustang, rent out a track and total your brand new car in less than three minutes:

I remember when team owner/drag racer Kenny Bernstein took a few laps in Ricky Rudd's Quaker State Buick at one of the short track and wadded it up, big time. Think that was the last time he got in the car, if I remember correctly.

More changes on tap for '17: Same day qualifying & race. I've been asking about this for awhile. The up/down side, depending on your view, is that the races should be shortened to coincide with this format. I think all races should be reduced to 400 miles, except for the Daytona 500 and the Coke 600, and maybe the Southern 500, as they serve as marquee events with long histories. Personally, having attended the Southern 500 numerous times, it starts too late to be a 500 mile race. I've been an advocate for streamlining race weekends, going so far as to suggest Xfinity, truck and Cup qualifying with the truck race on Saturday, and a 200 mile Xfinity and 300-400 mile Cup double-header on the Sunday.
