I have 2017 tacoma off-road. I was going off-roading and tried to engaged into 4x4 which never actually engaged. There is now a blinking green light on my dash and wont engage into 4x4 anymore.

I have seen some say its the actuator and some say ECU.

What has happened? How do I fix this? How much would this cost me?

    Checked fuses?

Sounds like a bad actuator, I had this happen and it was the actuator in my transfer case that siezed up (corrosion over time).

Have you gotten underneath while someone switches between 4x4 and listened if the actuators are working or not?

@Dstoll11, have you been in the habit of exercising the actuator monthly? If not I have heard sporadic reports of the actuators becoming frozen due to lack of use.

I would say I use it mostly in summer months so this time using it was the first time in probably 6 months. How do I fix this problem, replace the actuator?

That is typically the action I've read about (I haven't needed this for my Tacoma); I think I read at least one post where the owner tried multiple engage-disengage-engage-disengage cycles and eventually got the actuator freed up, but depending upon how frozen it is, that could be a long shot attempt at best.

Not the ECU. High probability it's the ADD. Search this forum for troubleshooting the ADD. If that checks out first then move on to the other parts of the system.

Ours was not engaging the actuator for the rear differential lock until I ran it back and forth a few times.
They do require use to prevent sticking.
