    Hello All,

New to the forum. I have on order a 2017 4x4 Offroad w/ JBL that was due first week of April. Got a call yesterday morning informing me that the delivery is now pushed out an additional 4 weeks. This obviously could be for a bunch of reasons:

    1. Dealer had someone offer more and allocated my truck to them first.
    2. Toyota is behind on deliveries.
    3. My broker said it could be due to "updates" (transmission?) that they are correcting prior to shipping.
    4. Murphy

Anyone else experiencing any push outs on their deliveries? Either way looking forward to getting the truck!

My build date moved a few days but that was it, how long has your wait been so far?

With the push out it will be 12 weeks. It was going to be originally 12 weeks for a new order. But I got one that someone cancelled so it put me a month ahead.

What amazes me about toyota being behind on deliveries, is that I had a recent conversation with someone within the plant. He tells me that San Antonio plant's production is hovering at about 550 a day and the Baja plant at about 120-150 a day. So probably not helpful, but I would have thought that 700 trucks a day was alot....turns out it's not.

I just bought my Taco yesterday. Ended up riding ~2 hours away to get it, because it was the configuration I wanted in stock.

Dealer 1: "Sure, it'll be here tomorrow!" Next day, turns out the dealership the transfer was originating from sold the truck out from under me, even though I had already left a deposit. The dealer apologized, offered one on the lot with XSP package and made some inappropriate comments about my taste for more basic trucks (I was trying to order an SR, and would have gotten it without backup cam, etc if I could have). I asked for my deposit back, they gave it.

Dealer 2: Came to them with offer from dealer 1, asked for lower. They did, and said "We can get it in 2-3 days." I dropped a deposit. 3 days later, the ETA is pushed back 2 weeks. 2 weeks go by, and they push back the ETA another 2 weeks, after ignoring my calls for 2 days. I go into the dealership, and they're rude as hell about it, even though I am being completely polite and reasonable. There's no sense of apology, if anything, they're acting as though they're doing me a favor by even talking to me. Fuck that.

The lookup tool was busted on Toyota's site, so I went to Google and searched every Toyota dealership within 100 miles until I found a truck that was close enough. Found Dealer 3.

Dealer 3: 0 ETA, it was there. It had actually been there, for 2 months. Because of that, I was able to negotiate a price only 2k over the DCSB SR at Dealer 2 for a DCLB SR5. I rode my motorcycle 2 hours away, made sure it was the same as every other Taco I've looked at, and bought it.

Don't deal with dealer bullshit. They're there to serve you. They act like they're doing you favors, but it is a part of the transaction. If they're not delivering, tell them sorry, I will take my business elsewhere, and do so.

Trucks are commodities, you can find your configuration elsewhere, even if you have to drive for it. Use google, check dealer stocks, email sales managers. It's easy to copy-paste a bunch of emails offering basically invoice + dealer destination fee + tax, and do all your negotiation before you even go to the dealership.

Thanks for sharing your experience and glad you were able to secure what you were looking for. I am gonna give some dealers a call within 100 miles and see what pops up.

Mine was ordered 12/26 (yes my Christmas gift to myself) and didn't receive it until first week of March. It was pushed back twice from build date of 2/14 to 2/21 to 2/28...go figure. Still don't understand the process, never will so I won't try to look too much into it.

I think my order date was on Dec 21st and it got built March 3rd or 4th and is finally due at the Dealer any day now, just as mentioned above, the process is somewhat confusing and hard to understand.

What was your reasoning OP for ordering? I'm assuming yours is automatic since I don't believe the 6mt comes in a jbl package, because I tried to add that to my truck and was told no. I would think there are tens of dozens sitting on lots without the need to be specially ordered...I have been known to be wrong though.

I was thinking the same thing, the lots should be loaded with Automatics in every possible combination.

Ordered my OR DCSB, premium/tech with JBL on Jan 20. Dealer said 4-6 weeks. Week 6 rolled up and they said end of April is new date. The JBL is what made mine a custom order apparently. :annoyed:

Look around near by you at other dealers. I found my 2017 OR with (with JBL)tech package about 200 miles away and the dealer went and got it!
Wait until near the end of the month and dealers will do what ever it takes to make a deal!!!

They can always do a dealer trade to get whatever car you want.

My dealer wasted two weeks searching three regions. The JBL option was always the missing feature set on what they found.

I called around and was very up front with the fact I was shopping around. Found a good deal and called them all back and a few would play ball. I was able to knock off about another $1k.

I agree with the above poster. You're going to be paying them so make em earn it. And don't be afraid to walk away you don't owe them anything.

edit: I just reread the original post... I apparently was responding to other poster :)

    Also get everything in writing.
