Does anyone else notice their outside temperature (displayed in the upper center dash) about 4 degrees warmer than the actual outside temp?

If so, is there a way to recalibrate the sensor?

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
Mine is only off when it is hot outside, and I believe it is related to the placement of the sensor. No adjustments that I am aware of. When it is cold out, it is dead on.

Mine seems about that much warmer than what is reported elsewhere. Where's the sensor at, anyway?

Yep mine is always warmer too. The sensor is in the top antenna blade.

Mine is off a little when I first start the truck, once I get driving it is spot on compared to the temp on my weather app. Don't know why it seems to take about 5 minutes to get dialed into the correct temperature except maybe the sun heating the shark fin.

What are you comparing it to?

    Your phone/weather channel?
Other outside temps like the sign at the bank?
    A physical mercury thermostat?

Do people really think the app on their phone has a thermometer that tells them what the temp is where they are standing? That temperature comes from a weather station that can be miles away.

exactly my point, most are taken by airports up in the hills.

My temp is off when the thermometer is heat soaked, but after driving for 10 min it is accurate within 1 degree of my homes unit and units I drive by on a few banks' digital displays.

It depends on what disparity there is between under hood temp and ambient as well for me in how long the adjustment takes. Sometimes it's only a minute and sometimes it's 10.

I have a 2016 that is the same way. After a few minutes of driving it will usaully be pretty close. I also have a 2015 Ford Transit 350 service van that does the same way. Have checked both of them against the temperature probes I use for work that are NIST certified and they are fairly close.

While the sensor location causes an initial disparity it also provides more consistency.

Ice build up is melted in the winter, and sun and pavement exposure is ruled out in the summer.

If it's way off even after driving for awhile it is completely possible the sensor is faulty. Good luck OP in tracking down the root of the issue.

    Four degrees off????

My Weatherbug app says it's -23ºF. There's one weather station here, it's the airport AWOS or Automated Weather Observation System. You can call that number or dial into the frequency to get the current observations. It says it's (-23ºC) -9.4ºF at the airport, not the stinking finger-killing -23ºF claimed by Weatherbug. (And by the way, the thermometer here at the house says it's -2.6º)

What's my Taco say? It's too stinking cold to go out there and find out.

I use the Weather channel and weather bug, both tuned in to DFW airport. All of my other vehicles, past and present are pretty much spot on.

Unless you're making chocolate candies, does it really matter? And humidity is more important for proper chocolate setting anyway. :D

You could test your local ambient with a calibrated device like a Fluke. If you are correct about the delta of actual and what the truck reports, take a shot at a warranty call.

I have a 2016 and it is constantly 3-5 degrees higher. I compare it to local business, my home outside thermometer & my Honda CR-V, which is accurate to 1 degree.
I brought it to the dealer and was told it is within Toyota specs. Placing it in the antenna blade was not a good location. I guess this is just one more annoyance to add to my Turd generation. Wish I had my 2009 back!

So you'd go back to a 09 (which had garbage reviews / multiple complaints) because your thermometer is 3-5 degrees off?

Let me guess; you bought a black one and it stays hotter than a white vehicle.
